Yeah, it’s a chamois. There were a few of them around, got a bunch of photos. Loads of marmottes down the bottom as well. How can they still look like fat little feckers when they’ve just come out of 6 months of hibernation?

Vicious little feckers! 😉 HUGE teeth. Vicious streak a mile wide, etc.

They’re funny wee things, but I’ve got a lot of respect for them ever since I saw one stand his ground doing his warning whistle to his mates until a dog’s jaws were about an inch from his neck (he did dive underground at that point!).

The first casualty of marmotwar is innocence.

    Awesome!

    Extra marmotte action from yesterday:

Haven’t joined this thread before, but I thought this might entertain.
From an end-of-season half term holiday in Schladming.
Edit: couldn’t get it to work…

Liking the pow! Even more so as you’re on the good side of the force! Look a little like Dynastars, but couldn’t be sure!

Welcome to a lovely little haven of STW, by the way. It’s nice in here. 🙂 Tartiflette?

To start at the beginning: They were rented skis – K2 I think – as I’ve only just stopped growing. In fact, I bought my first pair of skis at the end of that holiday. I haven’t had a chance to try them out yet though. Thanks for the ski-related compliment. I’m starting to get the hang of the pow…

    Which were?

    This is important! 🙂

Ah – another pair of K2s. I don’t know the model though as they were second hand. They’ve got graphics of guns on them unfortunately, if that helps. Twin-tip, reasonably wide. If the topic is good skis though then I’ll contribute with some center-mounted Salomon Twentytwelves that I once rented. They were amazing!

Sally 2012s were indeed ace when I tested them in 2011. 🙂 The graphics rather put me off though.

Am trying to work out what your K2s are. All the older K2s I’ve tried were superb, but their recent offering have looked so utterly gash that I haven’t even wanted to try them. That may be unfair, though as a friend of mine swears by his Coombacks.

    But really…

    Nice work isitaboutabicycle.

Any clues which runs these were. I recognised a couple. Did parts of that line under the gondola.

If you look somewhere much earlier in this thread you’ll find my vid from Schladming this year. Great place.
We’re not quite as agile on powder as you though 😀

Your skis face the wrong way, Graham. We’ve already established this. 🙂

Thanks. I’m not really sure where the runs were because it was the first time I’d been to Schladming and I hadn’t really got my bearings. Most of it was shot on Planai though.

    Twentytwelves in action!

…I have put Orange stickers all over them to solve that!
    Edit: They are K2 ‘Silencer’s.

Fair point, but I think the main issue is lack of talent.

Silencers with guns? 2006, I think.

Nice looking planks! What boots are you in?

Me? Absolutely ancient (I mean ancient) Salomons.

Please tell me they’re this ancient and rear entry…

    Please! Go on, please!

Okay, maybe not that ancient. I think they were pretty decent at the time – four clamps etc.

    Wowzers! Retrotastic!

Time for new boots, I’d say. If Sally boots fit, then go back to them. My Impact 120s (Custom moulded shell, and custom footbeds natch) are like slippers, but sooooooo good to ski in. All day comfort. I even forget to undo the clips over lunch and at the end of the day for first beer at the end of the piste. 🙂

Whereabouts are you? Might know a bootfitter for you!

Oooh someone mentioned tartiflette (my nephew gave me a glowing mark of 8/10 for mine last week), skiing and marmottes, what more could one want in life – well maybe Mcmoonters woodpile?

Still more snow in Scotland, come on, let’s make it through to June 🙂
