What’s happened to Evans? 160th at the second split.

Edit: 154th overall at the finish

Either he’s had enough or he’s saving it for later

Froome only 2 seconds back from Contador on the first split. Did someone say TT’s where dull?

    Froome is going well!

Not sure I agree with all this bike swapping shit that’s going on though. Fair enough in a genuine mechanical but swapping between TT and road bikes isn’t on. IMHO.

every time you change your bike, you drink a pint. Sorted.

+1, was surprised they were allowed to do that tbh…

Am I missing the commentators on Eurosport talking about Contador and Froome’s splits? They just seem to be discussing what’s on screen

It seems out of time with the ticker… I dunno, Froome down 20s on 2nd split.

Contador was looking a lot smoother than Froome on the downhill twisty bits. No bike change for Contador?

Berties lost some time compared to a few of them on the next climbing section. Gone too fast? Is Froome going to haul that back in?

Its OK I think Eurosport are saying 2nd split twice, not sussed there are 3 I think thats the issue.

I do wonder why the Eurosport lot keep saying “Rider XXXXXX is not usually good at time trials” when a rider does a good time. I’m pretty sure that this is mostly “Ride strongly uphill, don’t lose too much downhill” so not really a normal TT.

They also need to read the TdF official feed. That explained why Peraud left the race

Be interesting to see if the TT bike is worth 10 seconds on the descent.

Edit: oh dear, looks a bit wet for Froome…

Its raining on Froome but not in Frome ,its nice and sunny in Somerset

yup, very wet now, he cant win back time in that without an engine let alone a different bike.

A GPS check of Contador and Froome has the yellow jersey ahead of the Saxo-Tinkoff leader by 3″.

    ha!

credit to Bertie (and Kreuziger), he put up a good fight. hopefully this will make him angry for tomorrow’s stage.
any news on rain for tomorrow?

Well that’s put a bit of breathing space into the fight for the podium places too so now bertie and/or kreuzinger can go death or glory against froome tomorrow.

Bolleaux, I missed Froome’s ride! Can someone sum it up?

    Really fast?

I’ll try to sum it up. Froome and Contador rode unbelievably fast.

Froome looking like an escaped windmill as usual. Rode a negative split, 11 secs down on Bertie at the first check, swapped bikes just before the second check to confuse the enemy, took it carefully on a wet descent.

    Really fast?

9 secs faster than Contador 😀

The French guy who went down, looked like he lost his back wheel where fans had painted the road.

The French guy who went down

Péraud, who was riding with a broken collar bone.
    According to The Inner Ring

Péraud crashed on the very corner where his family were waiting to cheer him on, his wife could only climb over the barriers to comfort him

Now that’s truly bad luck. Hope he didn’t skid on his own name painted on the road by his family …
