Especially since I discovered the torch function on the Ovo app. I’ve been reading the meters every night since I found that…

*instals ovo app to see what hes missing*

    reprise.

Was putting my meter readings in this morning (beginning of the month, natch) and the Ovo website has started to offer me a Smart Meter install.

Anyone else had one of their SMs plugged in?
I love data, so would like to think it will improve the data collection and make it available for me to play with. There’s not a whole lot on their site.

Yep, we had OVO smart meters fitted about a year ago.
You’ll get the little box that shows you all the data or you can go on myovo and see most of it there.
I don’t bother with the box now, the novelty soon wore off.
No problems with the meters though.
I just forget about them now.

I’ve the OVO meter, installed easily enough the data is translated into the website and you can look at it daily/weekly/monthly in kWh or £ dunno if they’d give you the raw feed though?

Place it somewhere unobtrusive though, the (meter) screen is bright and can’t be switched off, it’s enough to illuminate my lounge!!

I’ve been wondering about this too.

So, is this smart meter a replacement to the existing meter or an addition to provide the smart functionality?

its a whole new whopping box that replaces the old one with the spinny metal disc I think.

Ah well, will press the “go” button then.

    It’s the full meter replacement.
The ‘box’ is in addition to the meter and is so you can monitor the energy usage on the fly. You can also do this on the myovo page, so my ‘box’ has been consigned to the back of the man drawer.

We got an ovo smart meter about this time last year. The IHD thingy is plugged in but rarely gets used, not least because I don’t trust the numbers it gives in the history view; on the 10-day view the amount you’ve used on certain days seems to change as the day recedes into the history which is a bit weird. It also defaults to a pointless screen that just says how much you’ve paid since you had the thing installed, rather than the real-time page or something actually useful.

The “usage” bit on the website changes a bit to show the greater level of detail available, but there’s no way to get hold of the data yourself that I’ve found.
