Suggestions for New Year’s Day?

I’ve got a couple of friends over, would rather not spend the day slumped on the sofa, so any ideas for things that can be done on New Year’s Day?

The restrictions:
– Not going into that London, so rules out parade and free entry at Kew
– Based in west Berkshire, so something vaguely in the south prefered
– Needs to be during the day, as I’m having my first go at making proper home made (from flour and yeast and stuff) pizzas in the evening

Current thoughts are going somewhere for a bit of a walk, or to a town that might have something on to watch/do.
