H+L screws set and indexing fettled to perfection, lubed with squirt and also tried smoove, yet chain is so noisy, compared to my other bike running XT 10 speed + KMC chain which is almost whisper quiet.

Bike is full XTR, and from a bit of googling I see Sram chains mentioned a lot for quietness, anyone reccomend, and which Sram chain too?

Definitely fitted correctly? I’ve found them to be quieter than both KMC and Sram.

Double checked it’s threaded through the cage correctly? We’ve all done it..

It came threaded wrong from LBS, was rubbing on the little noggin bit. Sorted that but still very noisy. I’ll stick a video up later of the noise, may in fact be quiet just i’m used to Sram drivechain.

I’d go for durability over noise. KMC every time. Won’t go back to snap-tastic SRAM.

KMC works fine on XTR as much as XT or SRAM cassettes. And to be honest KMC + XTR is quiet enough for me.

A lot of the noise can come from fractional indexing and chain line issues, especially with narrower cassettes for 11 and 12 speed.

    Just to be contrary, 🙂

I found both KMC and shimano chains to be both noisier and worse shifting than SRAM chains on a 1×11 system.  I was initially having problems with a KMC chain on 1×11 as it was dropping off the (at the time) 42 tooth when backpedalling, same with an XTR/Dura-Ace chain..  Switched to a 1x SRAM chain and the noise and backpedal issues went away.

At the time I assumed as SRAM were the only ones that made a 1x drivechain at the time, that perhaps their chain was designed to fit… !?

Just to throw something else into the mix I found 11speed FSA chains to be quieter than a KMC one

I too find FSA chains run quieter than Shimano or Sram & now use them on my road, gravel & mtb.

Can’t say I have ever noticed any difference in noise from different chains . In fact I have no idea what make of chain is on any of my bikes . I would suggest that if your chain is running noisily then it is most likely a set up issue . On the other hand you might just have more sensitive hearing than me . 🙂

Thanks all for other chain suggestions will add all to list.

Aphex its now like this, but prior it was in front of that space you see in the mech arm, held there by the small plastic noggin, only rubbing mind in certain gear combos. (not my pic)
