    IMO doesn’t work very well unless you boil off the alcohol first

    Ignore the above comment about the alcohol.

    Slow cooked chicken curry:

    Use the curry ingredients of your choice.
    Drink the red wine while it cooks.

    Dry January means no drinking allowed so want to use what’s left of the bottle we opened for someone yesterday

    When cooked in a slow cooker I can guarantee there will be no alcohol left. But if you boil the wine first whatever you have will taste bloody awful.

    Ox cheek if you can get it – there’s a recipe on the BBC website which works perfectly in a slow cooker…

    I tried this one last month, it was splendid with some nice creamy mash.

    Lamb with onions, thyme and RED WINE

    Lamb, redcurrent jelly, bay leaves, beef stock, red wine, pepper. 6 hours.

    Thicken with a little corn flour.

    Beef goulash with a bit of sour cream on top to finish.
