Thinking of fitting some cut down skis or snowboard onto an old bike.
I`ve seen the kits you can buy, but prefer to make my own.
Just wondered if anyone`s tried it and how they got on?
    Looks a lot of fun!

I’ve done it. It’s great fun.
We used a MIG welder to make some hub-width supports to bolt into the dropouts, but I’ve heard of people using skateboard trucks and washers. Mk2 had a single piece of tubing as a fork, which was much more effective. This also meant that the head angle could be slackened more easily (Mk1 had extensions welded to the fork legs. It doesn’t work at all otherwise – the bb is too low and the h/a is too slack.

Being a fake Canadian, I went ‘freeride’ with my ghetto ski bike. Norco VPS with Stratos shock! Didn’t get enough snow to properly try it out though….

Cheers guys, how stable are they and what length were the skis?
I was thinking of maybe two skis on the back, or a snowboard?
