Trying to find a demo of one of these but I fall inbetween sizes. Two independent shops have told me they reckon a 15.5 would be best, but I'm not sure and think a 14.5 might be better...

Does anyone on here have one? If so, what size do you have and how tall are you?

I'm 5'3" and have classic women's geometry so longish legs and shortish body.

Thanks!

Can't you just demo any small?

It's the way the bike rides not the finally fit that matters at the demo stage...picky things like reach and stand over won't matter...

Obviously it'll help, but if it makes finding the purrrfect demo size hard then settle for whatever you can find in a shmall...

And then buy the lappy 😉

I know someone with a Trek WSD 09 hardtail, she is 5'2" and rides the 15.5, she is probably inbetween sizes, the 15.5 is still a good fit for her. Don't know if that helps...my twopenneth.

My GF's got a 2006 EX8 WSD, and she's about your height. She has the 15.5, and if anything, she could have got away with a larger size. Theres plenty of standover height, but she's had to fit a longer stem as she was a bit cramped.

Oops, Ive just checked, and she's actually 5ft 5. She tells me that the 15.5 is definately too small, so may be for sale if your interested!

I'm currently looking for a new bike and am considering a Trek Fuel ex8 wsd or mens small but having difficulty locating one in the right size to even look at let alone demo! I emailed Trek and they were useless - just said to ring around the dealers - that could take forever - seems fine if you need a mens medium or large but anything else and youve got no chance. Supposedly I am need a 15.5 inch frame although at the moment I am riding a Commencal Meta 5 which is around 16.5 inches. Where are you based Marin? I could also be interested in your girlfriends bike or if you are not too far away could I even be cheeky enough to take a look at it to see if the size is right for me? For anyone interested I do know that Pedal on have a 14.5 inch made up in store to test but that would be too small for me. I am also looking at Specialized and have a demo bike booked for one of there Ride It rides. The main thing I dont like about the Specialized is the rather upright feel to the position on the bike ie 'sit up and beg' - maybe thats because I am used to a mans bike.

I'm 5ft 4" and had a Trek EX8 15.5". Could probably have got away with the next size up TBH

Hi - I know this forum a bit old, but I am having same thoughts

the 15.5 for me being 5'5' (even 5'4.5') appeared to be all cramped
yet the blokes 15.5 was not so bad - I guess the bigger jhandlebars to begin with made it less cramped ....

MarinGF - how does she rate the bike if it not the right size - ie is she just putting up with a bike that may be a tad too small. (I have put up with abike that is prob too big for the last 5 years ...)

Asking a silly question - does it have to be a Trek?

I'm refraining from having a hissy fit about availability of different sizes 🙄

I have a 15.5" Trek EX8. It is not WSD and it fits me at 5' 8", but I do like my bikes on the small side..............trying anything smaller than a medium or 17" on any bike anywhere is a chuffin nightmare!!!

I tried mine at a Wheelbase demo day.........best things ever for availability of bikes 😀
