You probably can't tell I am feeling homesick and thinking of all the places I will be riding next month.
Just thought I'd say I am planning on climbing Cader idris on Saturday 20th June. Never ridden it before and I don't think I will have ever climbed that much before either, so if anyone wants to come along and give me some encouragement and company you'll be more than welcome.
Just thought I would post now to guage interest, and then I'll post again nearer the time when I have my OS map and work out where to meet and all.
Oh and I will be riding Penmacho on the Monday 22nd if anyone has the day off or is free. Sunday i wont be riding I'll be doing my thing up in the hills for the solstice 🙂

Mmmm that sounds like the kind of jolly Id go for but sadly I wont b abt.
That's a shame - I am pretty out of shape right now as I have not been able to ride at all so will need some company to help get me to the summit! Looking at those photos a week or two ago it looks pretty major.
Yeah I kind of fancy a bivi on Cadair - just for the hell of it you know? Its on my tick list of mts to get to the top w my bike. Snowdon would be another as is Skiddaw, Helvyllyn & Ben Nevis - can you do that last one at all???

I think I may well be bivvying on Saturday night, but not Ceder Idris.
Yeah, I am actually not too sure I am fit enough to get to the summit, but am well up for having a go.
The Eastern Dartmoor contingent would love to come and meet you ahead of you joining us. Sadly, we'll be enjoying the solstice in the Swiss Alps.

No idea as my Bikefax Wales book is in The Big Yellow in Leeds and I am some considerable distance away. Will try and remember to dig it out when I pop over next week as i am sure the route is in there.
Do you really need that info dasnut. I am unfit as heck, have a back full of stitches and not been able to ride, but just saw a photo and thought that looks quite high but one heck of a ride so thought I'd give it a whirl. Not even too sure I'll get to the top but you have to at least try huh?
Trailmonkey - wow - would love to join you guys - bet that will be amazing. FWIW I am riding Ronda to Marbella this Sunday hopefully with Roper for company too 🙂
Oh well news hot off the press - am now doing a Tarifa enduro with Roper on Sunday. This is the route that very nearly killed me last year so I have to face my demons and give it a whirl again and maybe actually make it to tarifa this time 🙂
no don't really need the info, but it helps.
Got to the top of skiddaw in the mist and rain and rode down the slate in very sketchy conditions (packed my full facer for comfort on the way down) thats about a 800m descent I think - took me 2 hrs to push up and about 15mins to come back down, just wondering what its like in comparison.
oh and btw I broke both wrists (including completely snapped off head of my right radius) 9 months ago so not exactly at my peak either....

Brilliant climb, only gets tough after the right turn on the ridge and even then isn't too bad. The last few feet tho... ouchy.
Descent is fine/fun unless you're rubbish like me, at least I gave the walkers something to watch!

Castell y Bere car park is close to bottom of bridleway and a good place to meet - but organise this later.

Dont you go worrying about me RD. I've somehow agreed to do Roper's lunatic Tarifa enduro on Sunday, so if I complete that I'll be able to conquer anything 😀
