Ah but he does not want to look at himself, he wants to shout his own opinion then flounce off thinking he has the moral high ground.

Sad act, and there seem to be plenty of them on here at the moment. 😯

+1 for being mystified as to why this thread has gone the way it has…

    must be the heat.

I think when edukator looks at himself, all he sees is awesome.

I worked full time and did a law degree.not easy but what is that’s worth having?

Most people drift through life and then the thought may crystallise in their brain “this is it, this is what I’ve amounted to”. The unfulfilled ambition and dreams have dropped away.

You can do anything and be anyone you want to be. The threshold is is that you have to work damn hard and put yourself outside your comfort zone.

It seems that some contributors to this thread lead wholly unfulfilled lives.

    In your opinion obviously.

They could equally just be a bit bored and enjoy seeing who will bite.

Thereby ironically proving the point you were at lengths to dispel…

I have no idea what to say after reading this thread so I thought I’d post a picture.

She should of hung a sign on her bike asking thiefs not to nick it as she’s a singlemum.

just to add fuel to the fire..

(and yes, I despise Edukator’s never ending trickle of retarded sociopathic bellendery as much as everyone else)

but I’m raising a two year old, not even single handedly, and as a result I rarely find enough time to take a dump, let alone hold down a full time job and a university degree..
hats off to the girl, I hope she finds her bike..!

All the best, it’s not how much the bike cost, it’s how much it’s worth. 6 months saving is a lot of worth. Gutted.

Also…. You can have a full time job, uni and kid. I’ve got a friend in the same situation. Loads of help from the family, but needed whilst she gains her independence after a couple of honest and trusting mistakes.

Sounds maybe a bit silly but willing to chuck a tenner into a pot. 15 people do the same and a judicious classified purchase will make her summer, and we’ll all feel a lot more worthy.

This thread should be stickied and locked as an example of where it all goes wrong on STW….

Not silly at all. I appreciate it’s open to someone taking the piss, but a tenner isn’t much to most people here, and clearly 20x that gets the woman a new bike.

I’m sure as Edukator’s clearly such a sensible chap he’ll have loads saved away for a rainy day – surely 10 quid’s nothing to him 😉

Now that Edukator has left the thread let’s try our best to turn it round!

Let’s make it an example of where a thread all goes right.

    I will contribute a tenner

Cheers Junkyard, that’s got things started, let’s see where it goes:

    Junkyard £10
    hmanchester £10

[You cannot work full time and do a degree at Uni.]

My GF did her Masters in Medical Law while working full time as a nurse and a single mum.

That is admirable would either of you like to help out someone in the same situation 😀

FWIW my mum lives in Hull so I should be able to help with arranging the handover if we get the dosh and do a nice handover with pics.

I’ll do a fiver, I’ve got a full time job, and a nine month old boy, and doing a physics degree, thankfully I also have an EXTREMELY supportive wife.

Are you lot still going? 😆

Thanks for pointing that out as I hadn’t realized 😉

Anything and everything is appreciated. Even trolling to stoke the fire.

    Junkyard £10
    hmanchester £10
    Zokes£10
    bobfromkansas£5

I think that means we’re upto a retro rigid from the back of someone’s shed.

    Who else is in?

Seeing as I started off with a quasi-appropriate response, here’s another.

    £10 pledged

    But I want pics!

Fiver here, or some spare bits like tyres an stuff, let me know when, mail in profile 🙂

    hmanchester

Oliverd1981 I completely agree. As well as doing a good deed I want pics to give me the warm fuzzy feeling inside!

    Junkyard £10
    hmanchester £10
    Zokes £10
    bobfromkansas £5
    oliverd1981 £10
    Khani £5

Well that’s £50 then. Who’s got an idea on any target bike/bikes we can aim for?

    bueller

I’ll put in £10 too. Let me know who, where, when etc..

I’ll pitch a tenner in too, always nice to know the world is not full of spanners.

I make that 70 – enough for an ASDA special now 🙂

I’ll pledge a tenner on the condition that Junkyard does the handover to guarantee everything’s above board.

    hmanchester

Junkyard with his mum handing the bike over (with pics of course) is definitely the best option. We’ll sort out the pledges when we’ve got a bike in mind.

    Junkyard £10
    hmanchester £10
    Zokes £10
    bobfromkansas £5
    oliverd1981 £10
    Khani £5
    Juanking £10
    bueller £10
    Cougar £10

Blimey, that’s £80. Enough for a really good Asda special….

Seriously, has anyone spotted any ~18″ second hand bargains out there, or even better have something in the shed they feel is in the right sort of price bracket?

Oooh, this looks ok, only half way there though…
    Or cheaper….

Couldn’t believe some of the comments early this morning. Out of curiosity I’ve just clicked on the thread again & found something nice. I’ll donate £10 to help the lady.

I have some handle bars and other bits and peaces if she gets a frame and other components to make a complete bike, perhaps that may be a way of getting singlemum back on the road, rather than offer cash.

Hello every one, thanks for the support thats come through and the generous offers to help get her back on a bike.
At the moment, we have managed to get her a loan bike for now, whilst me and my partner sort her out something by the end of the summer using some spare parts and selling some to buy others. What would help her out now would be a wee-ride child seat so she can get out and about now. If anyone has one not in use that they would be happy to lend/give her, she would be very grateful.
Again, thanks for all the support

Hi Zoota, as long as she’s sure?

Well good on you to everyone who said they’d pitch in, it warms the cockles of the heart. Special thanks to Edukator for providing us with that little bit of motivation to try and do a good thing.

Sounds like she’s got some good friends helping her out. I’m sure if you need any bits or bobs to complete a build there will be a few people out there who would chip in.

S’funny, reading this. The responses offering money are heartwarming, and I was going to contribute as well, it’s good to see the situation’s sort of being resolved, so well done everyone. Should the need arise, I’m still ready to chip in, folks.
However, I made a slightly off comment to someone about wanting digital stuff for free, and got several pages about me being a loser. Compared to edukator, on the other hand, I’m a picture of restraint, so how about several pages on him being a complete loser?
    Just sayin’, like… 😈

so how about several pages on him being a complete loser?

No need for lots of pages, it’s self-evident every time he posts.

As with the others OP, if there’s anything we can do in lieu of cashmoney, I’m sure those of us on here will do our best to help 🙂

    I’ve a 17″ Trek 7000 ZX in the cellar…. year 2000’ish…
STX groupset, 8 speed, Xt rear mech, V- brakes, Rockshox Indy elastomer forks oh, bling Hope seat clamp in red. Frame is orangey gold ano.

    I’d clean + fettle it.

Open to offers …. I can hook it out later and post a piccie?

Also, I’m not a million miles from the M62 at Huddersfield so, someone is heading to Hull from this direction I could possibly arrange to meet them and hand the beast over…

No need… why join in when you do it so well on your own…. 😀
