    Hi folks,

The locks on my Thule solid roof bars with feet for my Volvo v50 have seized solid, all four. I have tried wd40, 3in1 penetrating oil etc. The key still will not even go in.

Any suggestions, I need them off.

    Thanks

    Alan

Are you sure some moron hasn’t glued your locks up.

Hold key in pliers and heat up with cigarette lighter and insert into lock, place something on roof in case key drops and burns paint

No, the wee slots open up now, they didn’t to start with so probably accumulated road salt. They haven’t been off in over a year

We used to have this problem when we windsurfed alot and salt water used to corrode every thing. The main problem was the flap that covers the hole. If we didn’t keep it lubed enough then it would be a pain to get in. Use to use a small screwdriver to lever it out of the way and then once in fill it with WD 40 and slowly waggle the key till you get some movement. I can remember it taking a morning when one of ours had seized solid but we did manage to free it.
