Salsa Cowchipper 46cm – alternatives???

Fancy trying these as a move from my 46cm Cowbells but due to the crap pound and salsa skyrocketing prices they are the best part of £90!!! now!

Are there any other alternatives or ‘copies’ of a similar design?

Not looking for the radical shape of say a woodchipper or OnOne Midge or Gentic bars tried them and didn’t like them on the hoods, but a bit more shape than the cowbells but still with the shallow drop

Easton EA70AX has a 16 degree flare but is £75, nice neural flare with wider stance on the shallow drops (44cm hoods = 508mm widest).

Not got them nor heard any reports but what about the Alpkit Bombers?

I have the bombers, apart from the drops being a little short they are grand.

Ritchey and Easton are very similar to the Cowbells I have

The bombers, genetic and woodchippers etc are all the extreme end of the scale.

The Cowchipper seem to balance that unique middle ground – just the £90 put me off especially as if I bought them 6 months ago the were about £50

My thoughts;
Woodchippers on my Fargo at 26 degrees flare plus a nice wide hoods are great.
Cowbells on my Tripster are 12 degrees flare but not enough to make a difference. The Ritcheys Mr Storm mentions are the same flare.
The alpkit are like midges in that the drop is very tight. Too tight for me.
The genetic bars are too narrow at the hoods.

Hmmm going to try 24 degree flare Cowchippers next I think.

I have tried the Alpkit ones and sold them on, the bend is too tight and the drops are really only for people with small hands.

In the usual STW “recommend what you have”, i’ve found these good.

This won’t help, but I have Cowchippers on my Fargo and they are great, admittedly the price is a bit off putting though!
