Well done Ireland. Now if Wales can actually beat Samoa tomorrow (and assuming they aren’t stupid enough to lose to Fiji again) we should have a home nation through to the semis.

Did wonder when australia would show the fatigue from the tri-nations, supers etc., but Ireland were fantastic. Well done!

Nothing to do with that. Australia are trying to play a game which isn’t necessarily suitable for winning the RWC. The scrum is so obviously a weak point that it’s amazing that it is allowed to carry on in the same shoddy state. And it’s no good having amazing backs if they don’t have possession.

Post World Cup, i wonder how long it will take for the inevitable Aussie cries for the scrum to be diminished?

Good result and very pleased with the Irish win, will be drinking a Guinness later.

You boys were just a liiitlle bit negative with your few mentions of an awesome Bok game this morning…

Yeah amazing backs, but Cooper is a liability in an intense game like that.

Ireland’s tactic of standing them up in the scrum forcing mauls and gaining turnovers worked again.

So far the only innovative / different tactic I have seen in this WC

Great game and deserved win for Ireland. unfair to single out players in a team victory like that but I thought Kian Healey was immense.

Heavily pregnant wife is not happy I gave up caring her and our unborn whilst roaring on Tommy Bowe on that 90m run there…

So its looking like a SA v Aus 1/4 final, really opens things up that result.

I don’t think that it was Cooper’s fault – he just wasn’t given enough ball to get his backs moving as much as they needed. So I’d blame it on the forwards for not doing their job and securing quick ball. Or maybe blame it on the Irish for doing the job correctly and slowing down Oz ball and taking it away when possible.

Based on today, I’d mark that down as a win for SA.

Yup a_a, looks like SAvAus, and we have a score to settle with them.
Considering the strength of the Springbok scrum and the Wallabies looking shaky up front, I’d say Bokke to take that one as a win.

I’d back SA too. Wales Ireland, if it happens is kind of 60:40 in Irelands favour, as they showed today they know how to shut up shop and win tight games, Wales dont.

I’d worry that Wales could rip through Ireland if they got their head. Tbh, I know it sounds pretty unambitious, but given the massive let-downs in 03 and 07, I’m bloody delighted with just that. I hope they have another game like that in ’em for the QFs.

Based on today, I’d mark that down as a win for SA.

    Me too.

    I’d agree with that a_a.

Ooh look a report about England.

Apparently they’ve been bungee jumping (when they haven’t been throwing dwarfs!). Good for them, it should keep team spirit up for the ‘lads’. Hopefully we’ll have a quick report on what they are having for lunch as well. Keep it up for us boys, we’re all relying on you.

Ooh again. A look at the English team for tomorrow. ‘A strong side….they’ve had to deal with a lot this week’.

    Now the Georgian side……

    Wait a mo.

The Georgian side, guys….where is it?

No mention of what the Georgian team looks like, so maybe England are playing with themselves tomorrow.

Anyway, c’mon Georgia. Damn, I couldn’t keep it up.

Rugby is a weird game so much of it is confidence, Australia just couldnt get the backs away today, The Irish scrum was great but if just one of those Australian back moves had worked and they had scored……

Anyway it didnt happen DD is a happy chappy 8) England will destroy Georgia and we will hear how they are are world beaters and Toys will call us names 😀 Dwarves will tremble at the thought of the celebrations and bunjee jump owners will make some more money.

    Troo.

There were two moves I can think of now, where the last pass went astray…either forward or intercepted.

If only Tommy had had the legs though…the scoreline would have looked like we hammered ’em. He must have been absolutely knackered, such was the deceleration once he hit the 22. It really looked like he was going over.

We have been playing absolute dirt but the England and the Aussie games showed what these guys are capable of when they gets their heads straight. We absolutely reamed them in contact and we gave them nothing to feed off, finally an 80 minute performance. Cooper didn’t do much, Beale looked electric.

Once again, you can’t blame us for the yawn inducing newspapers, and I only got as far as calling you bitter.

    But this I agree with

Although I would add, that the Irish backs had some moves too. TBH all the tight games are shut down, difficult to get the backs away, the only real running we have seen is where the defence has been woeful (like NZ vs Japan or the SA vs Fiji game)

We have been playing absolute dirt but the England and the Aussie games

The greens looked much like they did whne they beat us. I thought they was awesome. Given the choice I now would rather face Oz. We could outmuscle them.
Bring on tomorrow. My prediction is that england will look crap and only win by a small margin.

It looks like defenses will win matches.

Fiji ran a lot of ball against SA but rarely looked like scoring. The Boks defended easily.

The Irish defended well too. I tuned in to cheer them on but feared an Aussie try rush which never materialised.

Why can’t the Irish always play like that? Can they sustain that level again?

It’s certainly opened things up nicely 🙂

Can I just say that I am now at a high level of anxiety about tomorrow. Brain says Wales should win by 10-15, heart is saying the recent improvements will all fall apart and a bunch of error strewn muppets will line up, all lineout’s will be lost and the only game plan will be chuck it Shane who will get smashed everytime he touches the ball……..

A-A, which Wales will turn out tomorrow?

We all know which England will turn out, there’s only one and its DULL!

Wales seem to veer between superbly confident professionals and half-hungover amateurs!

Personally i think that, just like in the 6N in former yrs Wales will have taken great heart from their first game where they’ve done well and will go on.

The cider is on ice for later md. No point in getting wrecked early doors.

Really looking forward to the Wales Samoa game tomorrow – hope it lives up to expectation.

Oh Jeebus…I’ve just realised after flashy’s post that it’s on at 0430… 😯

Dilemma…record and watch without reading any STW or other media first thing in the morning? Or get up in middle of night to watch…

Are there a few of us here getting up to watch it live?

I’m not sure, depends if anagallis junior wakes up early or not. Added advantage if its recorded is I dont have to sit through the halftime wibbling of the ITV muppets.

anyway ireland in the 1/4’s, England in the semi and New zealand in the final for wales… easy 😆
