Nothing is bulletproof – I’ve had punctures with Marathons and Gatorskins.

Other than a solid tyre no but Marathon Plus come very close. I used them for a few years on road and off road and the gravel is very flinty where I ride and when using lighter tyres sometimes saw a puncture every few weeks. Had absolutely none with the Marathon Plus to the point I didn’t spares (partly because I probably could not have got the tyre back on anyway!)

For road commute I would just use a Durano Plus and probably overkill but I would rather have a slightly less comfortable ride than fix a puncture. Even felt that wight when leisure cycling with Marathon Plus as I really can’t be bothered with punctures when cycling.

Ran WTB Riddlers for the London commute and they were OK but an absolute pig to unseat when the need arose to put a tube in. Then tried Panaracer Gravelkings but they punctured more often than not. Now just running Schwalbe Marathon Greenguards after reading reviews on bike rolling resistance website. So far no issues – even took them off road last week and they fared better than expected on the flat. Mildly terrifying on the down though.

Run marathons tubeless and they were great.

now run supermotos  tubeless. Not on a road bike obvs. They are usually 2.5s, commute well carrying stuff in panniers. Comfy fast enough and lots of grip.

stopped riding road bike to commute to Leeds over 10 years ago. Fat and squidgy and about two mins slower on 50 min commute with mtb. The tyres are fat and squidgy not me!

I used to get a couple of punctures a year with Gatorskins + tubes. Haven’t had any proper flats with gravel tubeless G-ones. Had a couple of sealant spaff episodes due to glass but they both sealed when I stopped to sloosh the sealant to the right spot. Wouldn’t go back to tubes.

I still carry a spare tube, haven’t had to use it. Might ditch it.

What are we saying is the best bang for the buck? basically my new, unridden road bike, has wire bead none tubeless Vittoria Zaffiro’s (not the pro model) and i want the best experience for my first road bike ride ever, a tyre thats fit and forget, all season, decent performance, not going to flat every time i look at it….. i was looking at Schwalbe one tlr, GP 5000 astr? and they are like £50 tyres…then i kind of settled on the Vittoria Rubino, 30/32mm sort of size, think i got to £35 a tyre with those

    link me up 😛
