recommend me a good bike book

going on holiday in a couple of weeks and looking for a bike book to read

already taking a couple of comedy / crime books so looking for somthing inspiring to read

maybe a le tour book? or somthing adventure / travel related

has to have a couple of moments at which i would laugh at

Tim Moore – French Revolutions.

Anything by Josie Dew.

josie dew annoys me – i tried to like her but i do not get on with her writing at all

– alistair humphreys – moods of future joys i enjoyed loads – just ordered thunder and sunshine actually

– paul howards two wheels on my wagon

– inspiring to read – ultramarathon man by dean karnazes and cavs "boy racer" i enjoyed both in a"lets get out there and do this" kind of way

I did chuckle after having read 'Boy Racer' and its gushing praise of his then-beloved to find soon after publication he is now shacked up with a petite Italian semi-hottie 🙂

Yes, Tim Moore book is very good.

ok liking the sound of Tim Moore, looks like its could be funny too, Im not too sure about the Cav one as I'm not into this idea of writing a book just to make yourself look good

Robert Penn – It's all about the bike.
Just finished and really enjoyed.

Bike Snob is good fun too.

Actually Cav comes out of his book surprisingly well, even if he is a gobby scouser, and who almost immediately ditched his long term girlfriend/fiance for a newer, more Latin, model after it went on sale.
For my last trp away I read Alec Issigonis' biography which was quite interesting.

I'd lend you my copy, but I never got it back from whoever borrowed it last….

the rider by tim krabbe, think it's fiction. i enjoyed it a lot and i've never owned a roadbike. but it got me thinking and soon i will own one.

I think The Rider is by far the best book about racing, with The Escape Artist a respectable second. Neither are big on laughs so for that I'd recommend the Tim Moore book.

Without doubt the best book about cycling I have ever read.

You should have no worries on that score he doesn't, Cav comes over as a foul mouthed knob who happens to be very very fast.

Lance's first book 'It's not about the bike' still has a certain lure for me…but without a shadow of a doubt I'd recommend Matt Seaton's 'The Escape Artist' to anyone.
