^^^^ let me pretend to answer your question. I believe my Trans X 170-200 is the same length as a 200 Brand X. They come from the same mould after all.
I have a L Big Al, the seat tube of which if 30mm longer than a M.

I have managed to slam my dropper completely but I don’t know how much clearance is left of course!

So worse case scenario your dropper will have to stick out 30mm out of the seat tube if I have zero clearance which I doubt.

Why don’t you measure your dropper from its lowest point (the cable clamp I think) to where it would have to meet the seat collar so that I take an educated guess in situ?

    Have you been burglared?

    DIY headset press 🤣

Worked to a fashion but couldn’t keep it straight. Ended up just tapping it in with the handle of a screwdriver

    @breninbeener

I checked and that measurement is 305mm on your dropper. But in fact, some of that is not even the full diameter as it’s the actuator, perhaps 30mm at the bottom, check the blueprint on CRC.
From the outside of my L frame it does look like the bend starts at 320 so take 30mm off for your M frame and even 290 should be fine. I am therefore 99% sure you’ll be fine. But make sure that even slammed you’re comfortable at full extension and that your toes touch the ground, which is were and adjustable travel dropper is invaluable.

    Have you been burglared?

    🤣🤣🤣

It’s my garden office/makeshift workshop. Got a bike stand coming in the next couple of days and gonna tidy it all up/move to the shed

Had anyone tried a Marley mullet?
My wallet is desperately trying to resist building another bike, but I’ve already procrastinated enough to miss out on a Big Al in my size 🙁

    @submarined, I can’t imagine that it would be a problem on a 275?

@Kramer apologies, my question was a bit lacking in detail! I meant smaller rear on the 29 frame, not larger on the 27.

But looking at the geo charts, I think a -2 angle set on the 29 and a 150 fork would actually be way better geo for me than a Big Al would

Wasn’t Tommy C available to come and smash it in for you?

@submarined – I’d be a bit concerned about pedal strikes in that configuration?

Possibly not such a big issue with shorter cranks.

So an XL Big Al, okay for aomeone who is 6’3″?

Have resisted so far, but a hard tail for winter riding would be good 🙂

I am 6ft and a L is spot on so I assume XL will work well for 6ft3

Marley 29: Kermit vs. Big Bird.
Those with a green, what’s the paint like? Just a solid gloss bright green or is there some jazzy metallic/pearl business that’s hard to see on a photo? I’m leaning towards green but mac89’s pics make a strong case for yellow.

Finished building my Marley 29 last night.

Not the best photo but it won’t be this clean again, probably ever 😄

@borosilicate it’s a plain bright green (powder coat?) exactly as it appears in the pictures on here. It does look good, but it’s nothing fancy.

Yep, just a solid, quite bright green. I like it but it’s nothing fancy, no fleck or sparkle.

Actually the first time I’ve ever chosen a colour. All my previous bikes/frames have been second hand or only available in black.

    Love a build coming together.

Just pressed the headset into mine. Slow build planned over the next couple of weeks…

I got the aqua Big Al and went crazy and bought a blue Ragley 40mm stem. Im hoping it doesnt look dreadful

I was going to get everything (stem, seatclamp, BB, pedals) in Nukeproof copper initially, which I thought would look decent with the white. When the Horizon Pro wheels came up with silver hubs, I decided to go all silver with the white and black. Only bit of colour will be the tan walls, so hoping they don’t look daft

I have now sourced a new 200mm Fox Transfer at £120 from a fellow STWer as it didn’t fit his frame. I thought I had missed out on them but it appears not.
I don’t really need it but at that price it will match my 36s quite nicely. World of weirdos 😂.

Only issue might be that the collar and the seat clamp are very shallow which is supposed to be a good thing but in my case might mean it’s a bit too short as my Trans X is perfect at 200 (I insist on slamming).

If not, it means that my adjustable Trans X 170-200 will become available if someone is interested. Only 300 miles and could be extremely useful/flexible for someone wanting to optimise/maximise travel on those frames.

TAFKASTR. Silver will work well as it shows off the machining. I can’t say the same thing about tan sidewalls, which I (subjectively) don’t get. The equivalent of a chesterfield sofa in a bike workshop IMO 😂.

It’s my (at the moment untidy) office/summer house. Have a big shed, but it’s full

    Another one ordered…
Nukeproof headsets are now 3 quid, so I’ve ordered several…
On there lookout for forks now. Kicking myself for being too slow on those Lyriks!

Anyone know what these things are for – to hold 2 cables together maybe?

Yes they go on the seat stays for both hose and gear cable. 2 on each stay.

Cheers, I was using cable ties

@nickfrog how much would you want for the TranzX post if you sell it? Was it one of the £55 bargains?

    nickfrog

Yes but I paid £65 plus £5 31.6mm Shim before they went up and then out of stock. Not sure how much I want for it. I’ll PM you shortly.

Nearly done, hoses, chain, gears to sort tomorrow and ready to roll.

Just sitting on it, can tell it’s going to be an absolute weapon 😍
Haters gonna hate the tan walls 🤣

I love the tan sidewalls and will be going that way myself. My frame arrived today still plenty of bits to get though so the build be a little while yet.
