Fancy a bottle as I like Laphroaig, what’s the differnece between this and the normal 10 year? (Apologies if I’m being dumb).

Smaller cask = more finishing flavour for the same age I think.

It’s placed into smaller casks (quarter casks) for a second maturation.
Is then bottled at a higher strength (48%) with a stronger, peatier taste IMHO of course.

You don’t need a lot that’s for sure!

yeah, more surface area of cask per unit of whisky during the maturation process.

Old Pultney was £16 in Booths at my last visit

Marco surprisingly had some premium single malts for low(er) prices as well, quite surprising since I only expected Bells and FG

I noticed sick squid off Highland Park in Tesco yesterday. I only tried that recently as I remember folk on here recommending it. However, tomorrow I shall procure Bruichlaiddich from Morrisons.

    Bruichlaiddich…….mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm nice!!

I’m planning a trip to my favourite wine merchant at the weekend to pick out this years christmas bottle. An annual outing that signals the start of the festive season for me………and I may pop in to Costco on the way home for a tray of mince pies.

The quarter cask is a nice dram. I think Old Pultney is really underated and at £16 it’s an absoloute steal! Shame there aren’t any Booths up this way.

picked up a bottle of Quarter cask in Tesco Extra in Llanelli today they had plenty on display, good offers on most of the whiskey’s too.

Going in the hip flask for this weekend bivvy trip, if I die of cold I’ll know my last drink was a good one 😉

    48% bring it on 😯

Asda are doing Quarter cask slightly cheaper at £22.47. Rude not to at that price. Lovely stuff.
