Considering a pair of the Isotope rims on the V6 hubs. Any views on their suitability for ebike use. Mainly trail / enduro type riding. Cheers.

I’ve got a pair that I haven’t ridden yet (so this may be pure conjecture), but looking at the rims… I’d suggest putting some Rimpact Pro (or even Cushcore) in them if you’re riding enduro stuff on an eeb.

Anyone else still waiting, I ordered a set last Monday and my tracking info says they’ve still not been collected by DPD.

Thanks to the OP, I ordered a set of the DHX enduro wheels on the 31st, last Monday, and still haven’t received them yet.
Not worried if others are still waiting, bit worried if everyone else has been receiving theirs and it’s just me.

Yeah. I ordered Tuesday or Wednesday. Tracking says still not collected. Seems like DPD didn’t send the lorry to make a bigger collection.

Same boat here – ordered early last week and still showing as not collected by DPD.
Relieved to hear I’m not the only one!

I ordered a set of road wheels and a gravel set. Both on hold. The road wheels mentioned this in the listing that they were waiting on hubs so would be end of nov. Had an email the day after ordering the gravel wheels to say they had run out of QR adaptors and were expecting more in 2-3 weeks. Not too fussed given then price. Happy to wait.

I use them on my AM160. They’ve done a couple of uplift days fine.

The rear did detension a little but I was using a procore insert on the rear at 60psi and that can happen.

I did find on a slacker Specialized tyre it wouldn’t stay on the rim without an insert but it was well used. Actually the Superstar rims I’ve used are definitely easier to get tyres on compared to my Stan’s Flows and baggier tyres more difficult to seat.

On the flip side it’s incredibly difficult to get some tyres on and off the Stans with an insert compared to Superstar rims that I have.

I’m still waiting too, I’ve had no emails or anything to tell me there’s a delay, only what I’ve read here, only correspondence I’ve had was to say my order was packed last week.

EDIT – just emailed them and they responded straight away. Having issues with DPD still, apparently if you’ve had notice they’ve been dispatched then they’ve been picked and packed, just waiting on DPD to collect.

Ordered on the 1st, delivery date of the 2nd and still not been collected yet by DPD.

Thanks for doing that @Blazin-saddles .
I assumed that was the case so wasn’t worried yet, but still good to know.

I gave in and ordered a pair of Arc ULTRA DISC V6 road wheels for my (not even built, let alone here yet) new gravel bike.

    £62.50 a wheel, can’t go wrong.

(Even better still now CRC have squared me up the difference in price between what I paid for the bike 2 days ago and what it’s just been re-discounted down to now; making these almost free)

Mine too, do you think DPD spent all last week sending a transit van and superstar sending them away and telling them to try again.

After ordering mine I got a mesage from DPD to say they’d be delivered in 2 days time. Then I got an email to say there’d be a 2-3 week delay due to the adapters I needed being out of stock. 2 days later DPD said they were going to delivered the next day. They arrived with the relevant adapters. So all in ordered on Mondya, delivered on Friday. Very nice wheels, though the rim doesn’t seem to have much of a lip on it for the tyre bead to grip on to (WTB 321 maybe they don’t actually need a lip).

£125 for a set of Isotope wheels…unreal. I needed jsut new rims, but they worked out more expensive than a full wheelset!

Can anyone with V6 hubs comment on whether the rear hubs should be slightly notchy when new? The fronts are as smooth as anything, but the rears are a little notchy and have more resistance to turn.

    nixie

Xcpootler, my set are the inverse with notchy front, smooth rear. The front hub also looks very much like a non-boost with longer non disk end cap.

On the flip side cheap enough to work out if I like 29 as an option on B+ bike.

    dc1988

I think their front hub is the same width, I remember reading that it didn’t improve strength by widening the shell so it is the same for both but the boost wheel is dished differently iirc

27.5 ISOTOPE wheels on a gravel bike, anyone doing it or ordered some for that? Seems to be the only option left for 27.5 non boost road

@dc1988 thanks. That certainly makes sense for a production pov.

How much did they weigh? Did you get 700c or 650b?

Ogden, I got 700c/29. I haven’t weighed them but according to spec they are about 2090g (32h front and rear).
For comparison my Hunt 4 Season are 1650g and Sonder Alpha are around 1800-1900g (both 28h front and rear).

I weighed the i29 version I got and they come out at 1028g F and 1157g R. Specified weight was 2210g.

Have fixed the stiff front bearing as well. The bearings were fitted too tightly. Now spinning smoothly…. But, the non disk end cap was in my view out of spec. I have a unior hub genie for removing end caps. The disc side came out easily. The non disc side would not come out. In the end when it did it also removed the bearing! Separating the end cap and bearing was an absolute git. It seems like the out diameter of the end cap was too big and it would not pass easily (like the other side does) through the bearings. Definitely the end cap as the it would not go into either bearing while the disc side went into either easily. I rectified this with very fine sandpaper to thin it slightly. Based on the witness marks from sanding looks like it had high spots 🤪.

got a note saying mine will be delivered today after ordering yesterday. may have got lucky with the DPD pickup, maybe…

got the 650 i19 V3 set to 650 my prophet.

worked out cheaper than me building set by a long way.

    V6 Hubs, Isotope Rims 650b, 1925g, 29mm internal – £125
    V3 Hubs, WTB I19 Rims 650b, 1930g, 19mm internal – £93

    For the gravel bike…. WWSTD?

29mm internal on a gravel bike?????

Neither in my view, one is too w i d e and the other a bit on the narrow side (assuming large volume tyres).

WTB i19 will be fine up to 50mm (according to WTB rim/tyre chart). I will be running 45mm 700c tyres.

I got the Arc Ultra on V6 for my gravel bike.

They are 19mm internal as well, but way lighter.

    Are they sold out now?

My wheelset arrived just there. feel much lighter in the hand than I was expecting, so that’s a bonus.

rear V3 hub bearings a bit tight, but I’d expect them to loosen up a bit with use. front seemed fine, if a tiny tiny bit notchy.

tyres should arrive today too, for a build up and ride over the weekend. apparently 650 is where it’s at..well, from 26″ wheels anyway..

Hello just an update on this. DPD sent a lorry which we filled and more on 2 more vans, so the backlog has shipped. I apolagise for the delays in DPD getting their act together.

we have sold about 65% of the stock now so theres lots of lines sold out or about to. So if you want a below manufacturing cost UK Made bargain crack on as they wont be there for much longer

as for people asking about spares we have thousands of parts machined which should last years, and if anything runs out as we manufacture here in the UK we can just make some more. We are making hubs for other brands still so they will be around for a long time

They shouldn’t be notchy at all when new! That suggests they are too tight in the hub, i.e. the bearing separator tube is pushing on the inner races of the bearings too much and they are binding.

    Hi Neil,

It would be useful if you could update the website to actually reflect the stock you have left.

On two separate orders, the website has allowed me to configure and order a chosen wheelset only for it to be cancelled/refunded the next day due to it not being in stock.

    It’s a bit frustrating

Hello the problem is the orders are coming in so thick and fast that certain variations we have to manually remove from the menus. we obviously dont have every single one of the tens of thousands of options assembled, and once we are down to dregs we dont have the flexibility to swap things around to fulfill every permutation.

I ordered two sets. One arrived and looks great but the other hasn’t arrived yet. I assume it’s still in the queue.
