Homemade Body Cap Pinhole on Nikon DSLR, first experiment shot – anyone else tried this or got any pinhole camera shots ? Its weirdly back to basics, yet really rather fun !

First shot with a new Panasonic DMC-GF2 that I’m pleased with. Takes a while to learn a new camera, especially as this is the first digital one I’ve used properly. Now I just need to learn how to use photoshop……

Some great pics – but the attraction of this is that it’s from the last month.

The attraction is that there are some great photos. The last month bit went out of the window a long time ago, and matters not anyway.

Night race by Notoriously Bad Typist, on Flickr

Farmer John is a local success story. John’s dad used to host Gymkhanas on his farm at the top of Marple Bridge, but demand died down. John was getting into DH and saw the opportunity to use the land to build trails and over the years it’s gone from strength to strength. His “end of summer” race weekend has grown each year and it always seems to have a fun, inclusive atmosphere – I saw guys who race downhill at World Cup level, and people whose wheels never left the ground.

One feature I’ve never seen elsewhere is the floodlit night race. This year, the floodlights seemed better than before, and I only saw a couple of guys using bar / helmet lights. Even though it’s lit, and it’s run on an “easy” trail, it still takes courage to hammer down at race speeds in the dark.

In this pic, Dave “you” Wood launches the last drop before the berms into the finish. I particularly like the way you can see the floodlights leading back up the trail, as the crowd look on while Dave launches the drop.

You can see more from the night race here
