Still listening to mist of the stuff from my yoof, along with plenty of more modern additions.

Off the top of my head the teens/early 20’s included (but not limited to) the following: nirvana, pearl jam, the offspring, moist, metallica, Guns n Roses, metallica, therapy?, Paul Oakenfold, fatboy slim, leftfield, james, REM, radiohead, oasis, blur, pulp, portishead, the grid, reef.

Goes without saying I’ve got a loft full of CD’s! Just got back in to vinyl, so looking forward to searching for all those albums from my youth.

Most of the Disco songs … Bee Gees, Boney M, ABBA, Earth wind and fire, John Denver, Elvis (some), Donna Summer etc

But nowadays I only listen to Dark Underground German techno.

Kid A was years ahead of it’s time, it will still sound great in another 30 years.

Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, AC/DC,  Saxon, Black Sabbath, Status Quo, Def Leppard, Van Halen, Extreme, Guns and Roses, Boston, Journey, Bon Jovi, Scorpions, UFO, Michael Schenker,  Ozzy, Magnum, Tom Petty, Gary Moore, Thin Lizzy, in my 1980s yoof (before grunge messed things up, thankfully).

Seen a few of them again 30+ years later,  since Covid restrictions were lifted inc Maiden, AC/DC and Scorpions.  Sadly several are no longer on this earth.  And the ones that are past it like G&R, there’s some great tribute bands thst are better live than the real thing.  Limehouse Lizzy were fantastic as always last Saturday at Rock City. God bless  Phil Lynott.

Whilst not as prevalent, still some great bands coming along to take on the rock and roll mantel for the next generation ?

Used to love making beans on toast to this. Now my tastes are more refined, and I like to add beans and a sausage.

Gave this an airing the other day, I refuse to believe it is anything but new and fresh…

Alchemy is an astonishing performance, aptly named. Dire Straits get a poor reputation as “dad rock” or boring, but every single band member is at the top of their game here.

Terry Williams (drummer) is killing it, I’m knackered just watching him. Legend has it that his dad was in the audience and it was the first time he’d watched his son play, so Williams was instructed to just go for it. How true/apocryphal that is I don’t know.

Love the video above. Got an early DAF album,  and some Tom Waits, but that is next level goodness. They probably nail their scrotums to pallets for fun. Hard to listen to, but such fun.

My overriding view reading this thread is that you were all either far too cool or are lying about your choices.

My favourite album for a long time was Bridge of Spies by T’Pau. I have everything they’ve ever done including imports and rareties. The only thing I’m missing is recent one-off singles which didn’t get a physical release. Carol’s just recorded a cover of a Christmas song (White Christmas, maybe?) along with the saxophonist from Spandau Ballet and it is very, very bad.

What’s wrong with Roxette? “She’s Got The Look” is an amazing bit of pop rock.

The first album I can remember buying was Steppenwolf….   with, of course “Born to be wild”.
