So, on my cross bike, I’ve got some FSA Vero drops. They were cheap, and in the drops feel good.

However, while they’re normal width for me (42cm), the feel a little narrow/twitchy on the hoods. The transition from tops to hoods is not square enough, I think. Or maybe just not wide enough for off road.

So, suggestions, please, of compact drops that have a good feeling of width up top.

    Cheers!

That’s what I have on my road bike. Flat tops, shallow drop, comfy and not horribly expensive.

Salsa Bell Laps are great. Shallow drop, slightly angles the hoods which for me make my bike feel more stable.

@whatnobeer – look a bit deeper than a shallow drop, or is it just the pic?

@teetosugars – have thought about this. Not sure (as I want a squarer corner on the bend from the tops to the hoods – my cheapo Giant drops (whilst ergos, so not useful)

@mcmoonter – aren’t they quite flared? And rather deep?

I’ve got a pair of Race face compact bars 44cm, they have been fitted to a bike but never ridden or even taped up £15 posted. Cheers

Its a 133mm drop, which seems to be the standard sort of range (125mm-135mm). Maybe a bit bigger than the one on your current bars though?

@speshpaul – cadence? Not sure I’m a fan of the shape looking at the online. cheers anyway.

@whatnobeer – I think mine are less of a drop – feel really natural there. Maybe I just need to ride in the drops..!

A bit flared, but a shallow drop. I like them on my CX bike, would consider them on a touring bike too. The hood angle feels strange at first, but I grew to like it.

No Ride, not that it probably makes any difference.

Sorry, not keen on the look of the bend. Thanks anyway.

@mcmoonter – hmm, not really setting me alight, TBH. Thanks, too..!

@oldgit + garym – I’ll check out those guys. Might be more the thing. Zipps tend to be quite square in the transition at the top.

    Cheers all.

    arent’ the vero/omega bars flared?
got omegas on one bike, you sure they’re 42 at the hoods?could be 42 at the ends,40 at hoods.hence the twitchyness.
maybe I’m getting confused with the ergonovas(nice too) I’ve got but I actually had to buy 44s,to get 42s.
