Very good – good compatibility with lots of TV’s/STB’s. It’s easy come easy go and what I like most if is if you buy a day/week/month pass you can cancel within two minutes and it will retain your month so you don’t need calendar events. They also send you loads of pretty competitive offers. I use it for the occasional football match, I had three cheap months of Entertainment (£3 per month??) to watch Chernobyl and also a month of Movies for bugger all over Christmas. There’s no way I’d ever have a full on Sky contract so for me it’s great as a top up for Council Telly, iPlayer and Netflix.

Same here. It also puts all our other apps in one place, TV doesn’t have all the apps and Red Bull is available on Now TV. Get emails fairly regularly offering deals. A month of sky movies every so often and then Netflix for a bit.

Hold on, really?  I have now TV through an Xbox onto a dumb TV, how do I add red bull to Now?

    Sopranos
    The Wire
    Chernobyl
    Boardwalk Empire

Should keep you going for a few months.

If you want sports you can get a pass from Currys for £25/month

It’s Ok has some good stuff pop up now and then. I’ve just cancelled mine though.

I guess I found it on the app store or whatever they call it.

Maybe you need the stick or set top box.

nowTV streams aren’t HD which is annoying. But when it’s included for “free” with a phone contract it’s ok.

It’s HD these days. Obviously depends to some degree on the app playing the stream.

I thought they’ve only been testing the HD streams this summer. Are you sure they’ve actually switched over?
To be clear – I’m talking about the nowTV streams not their hardware.

    Edit – Yep 720p max

No active subscriptions at the moment but when I watched Chernobyl a couple of months back on a BT YouView box through a NOWTV subscription I’m certain it was HD.

When I took a trial week to see what GoT would look like it was pathetic so I cancelled and bought it on Amazon Prime where it was a lot better, so it wasn’t HD (1080P) then.

youview box will probably have been outputting an HD signal, but it will have only received a 720p from nowTV.

I have it, but once you have watched the box sets I am not sure how much of a bargain it is. The interface is super clunky and drives me bonkers, that alone may lead me to cancel.

It’s not really, Red Bull TV is free to air and is usually available via the re-branded and locked down Roko boxes they sell.

    As for “HD”

1080 NowTV has been “coming” for years and was supposed to be rolled out by the end of 2018. I was one of the few customers who was part of the trial so I was 1080 for a time. TBH it’s not massively noticeable, obviously your TV will upscale to whatever the native res is anyway. It’s worth also noting that Sky and Virgin only broadcast in 1080i (which is ball-park with 720p) until recently and if you have older hardware (non SkyQ or older Tivo) you were likely only getting 1080i anyway.

Rumours are that Sky is going to merge Sky and NowTV again, they’re already using ‘dishless’ broadcasting for some customers. A lot of their costs are based around install costs, hardware costs and sat-time so it makes sense to do away with all of that. When that happens ‘full’ HD and even 4k will come to NowTV, the hardware they’ve been selling for the last few years is capable of 4k already.

As for NowTv in general, I really like it. Rather than pay Sky £40 a month or whatever, I pay them £6 or so. It takes a while to get your head around not recording things, just stream on demand. The downside is whilst some things like The Wire and the Sopranos is usually always there, GoT won’t be, not all the series anyway so if you’re the type who likes to record stuff to watch months, even years later, it might not work for you. I don’t miss it. For various reasons we’ve still got Virgin, but when we move in the next few months I plan to do away with virgin. Buy my broadband to run the Netflix and Now and get my ‘normal telly’ via Freeview.

I was gonna say this too, you have to really want to watch something on it.

Still might get a month to catch the new series of Gomorrah.

Just checked for you, and (unless something strange like you get a few weeks to watch from when you first start streaming it) series 4 is only available until tomorrow.

Me and the girlfriend had it and have just gone back to a sky contract upon recently moving. Now tv is cheap and I liked that you could buy day passes for sky sports etc but it became a pain for us not being able to record things and watch them later if it wasn’t on on demand. We also didn’t have a tv Ariel so had to watch live tv through the apps which could be a pain if the internet was running slow and also meant you couldn’t watch channel 4 live (annoying for the rugby). Went back to standard sky package with box sets (and includes Netflix) for c £30 a month. Once you take off the cost of existing Netflix account the extra £17 a month compared to now is worth it for the convenience

I’ve used it for the F1 mainly and it’s generally been good – but just recently I’ve had a ballache activating vouchers at times having to try it on three different devices just to get it going

Well compared with Netflix it’s as slick as a snake smothered in baby oil. We use it mostly to watch stuff on Sky Atlantic, of which there is often something decent, since we can’t get a normal Sky subscription (dish not allowed on building 🙁 ).
