For very random reasons I have an accordion. No one in the house plays the accordion. I can’t find one with the same grill (if that’s what it’s even called) pattern. I’m struggling to date it – the case makes it seem pretty old, and the grill is kind of art deco. Anyone here know enough to date it and give approx value?

I personally have no idea, but an old school friend of mine is a bit of a wizard on the accordion.

I’m sure if you drop him a polite message he would give you some advice.

I can’t help you with a date but Paolo Soprani is a pretty decent make. It’s a 120 bass with 9 treble couplers and 2 bass couplers. Looks like one of these

I’ve not actually spoken to him for probably 20 years, but I droped him a text to pre-warn him… hahah

An accordian makes a truly wonderful sound… when dropped out of a window. The problem comes when some kind soul replaces the one you dropped

My work colleague’s grandfather was a local publican, accordionist and band-leader. Back in the 1960’s he was offered a nearby island, complete with dwelling house – he declined and bought a new accordian instead. The island is now worth hundreds of thousands, the accordian not much.

Used to work with a guy who said he could play, yada yada etc.

One day an accordion appeared in the office. 5 seconds in to the first tune and I could conclude he was an absolute maestro!

    Very impressive

He was offered the island so he could play his accordion there, yeah?

I love watching and listening to a good accordion player (accordionist??). They look insanely complex and some wonderful tunes can come out of them, it’s a joy to experience.

    When played well!

He was worried he’d feel boxed in
