Reminded me of my days playing village cricket, really good fun games. The simple fun of messing about at sport. Was a very good show of the benefits of sport, I felt.
I’m not sure I’ve ever thought this seriously before, let alone written it down, because I always feel that England aren’t that far away from a rubbish result and they don’t need the opposition stepping up. But I do hope WI put up more of a fight this time, especially with the Ashes around the corner we don’t need 3 easy wins.
Of course when we’ve thrashed Australia in the first 4 Tests this winter I won’t be having similar thoughts at all 😉
It seems we are still no closer to filling positions 2 and 3. This was supposed to be an easy series where the players in those positions scoring lots of runs would have no significance!
Dowrich is a horrible, horrible keeper. His movement is awkward and slow, his technique is crap and he can’t bat either! Roach and Gabriel together remind me a bit of Winston and Kenny Benjamin. The key difference being that those two were first and second change after Ambrose and Walsh (or Bishop or Patterson).
Well done today to The West Indies. Hopefully they can show some further signs of improvement and thus be able to shake off the trite corporate bullshit they’ve obviously been pushed into to be known as ‘Windies’.
It will be interesting if they can get a 150+ lead and feel they can really run in at England.
