Can’t remember the last time such an emphatic victory left me feeling so sad.

    My thoughts exactly Cpt

Its men v boys and the Windies were the stuff of absolute legends with bat and ball and now they are Zimbabwe 😥

Terrible times and the next two will be relatively pointles sand little preperation for the Ashes

Cook and Root defeat West Indies by an innings and 74 runs.

thats a bit harsh on the england bowling attack. Whats 19 wickets in a day anyway 😉

Ooof. A good advert for football 😐

Even a couple of years ago they had thin batting but some genuinely quick fasts, they were flakey but promiseing. Now there’s nothing.

That 1999 WI v Aus test match (and series) was immense!

Windies where below par for the whole match not that it takes away a convincing win for root and the team but harder tests are needed before the ashes

I like many here grew up with the great West Indies teams of the 80’s.

I’d like to see them back…..

Cracking score by Hampshire, and a great start on the field.

Reminded me of my days playing village cricket, really good fun games. The simple fun of messing about at sport. Was a very good show of the benefits of sport, I felt.

    Swanny’s opening shot was, erm….. 🙂

    Morning everybody.

WI seem a little lacklustre this morning. 🙁

I’m not sure I’ve ever thought this seriously before, let alone written it down, because I always feel that England aren’t that far away from a rubbish result and they don’t need the opposition stepping up. But I do hope WI put up more of a fight this time, especially with the Ashes around the corner we don’t need 3 easy wins.

Of course when we’ve thrashed Australia in the first 4 Tests this winter I won’t be having similar thoughts at all 😉

Agreed. This level of opposition isn’t going to tell us anything about the players on the fringes of Ashes selection.

Isn’t it nice to have cricket back on in the morning? The big downside of D/N seemed to be the waiting around for it to start.

It seems we are still no closer to filling positions 2 and 3. This was supposed to be an easy series where the players in those positions scoring lots of runs would have no significance!

From what I can see, only Cook got out to a good delivery, with the rest guilty of loose shots or poor technique.

Is it just me, or is the mix of white & cream in the England kit bloody awful?

    theotherjonv

    No, it’s awful.

If you must have a mix, then I can live with a cream (off white, bone, ivory) sweater over a white shirt but not the other way.

In fact, a lot of England’s recent kit has been an abomination.

A lucky machine!! If WI could catch we’d be 150 all out!

Dowrich is a horrible, horrible keeper. His movement is awkward and slow, his technique is crap and he can’t bat either! Roach and Gabriel together remind me a bit of Winston and Kenny Benjamin. The key difference being that those two were first and second change after Ambrose and Walsh (or Bishop or Patterson).

Well done today to The West Indies. Hopefully they can show some further signs of improvement and thus be able to shake off the trite corporate bullshit they’ve obviously been pushed into to be known as ‘Windies’.

It will be interesting if they can get a 150+ lead and feel they can really run in at England.
