I’m sticking to whisky tonight, which is served in a small glass therefore it’s ok 🙂 lets not bother about the fact that the measures are probably equal to 2 units…

there is an inconsistency from policy makers about middle income earners drinking heavily as opposed to those on low incomes and the assumption that ‘they’ are the ones ending up in A&E not ‘us’ so we put minimum price on alcohol to stop all these oiks on cheap booze…

although I do support minimum pricing, but only because I think it may deter a few young drinkers from making themselves ill with very cheap grain spirits from discounter supermarkets

In which case what was the relevance to this thread?

    I’m sorry you don’t understand.

You should drink in my local. At £4.50 a pint I can’t afford a decent booze habit.

Have they got any peanuts? I need something to line my stomach if we are going on a bender.

    Eating is cheating, just MTFU![/quote]

Unless it’s a pie. And all pies shall be eaten with a full pint. In one.

It blows my mind how calorific alcohol is. If anybody is thinking about shaving a few pounds then you could do a lot worse than looking here!

That’s my problem. No matter how much exercise I get that belly isn’t going to shift with the booze. The stuff also makes me eat more as I generally drink with meals, and on top of that regularly riding bikes means I get home hungry and pig out, and plenty of the happy stuff to wash it down with.

On the plus side, a bottle of wine is probably several of your five a day.

That’s what’s crazy at the moment with the “sugar is evil” obsession now. Just about all fruit, alcoholic or not, is likely to be banned soon due to the amount of natural sugar.

it has been estimated that consumption reached over 100 gallons per head per year in 1689.

    😀

Good effort, the good old days when beer was safer than water. Eh!

Who would suggest such a thing? That’s like saying everyone who owns a gun is a murderer.

Trouble is,the government keep moving the retirement age goalposts currently 67 by the time I get there probably be 70. I’ve no kids to support so why not have a tipple now and then when I fancy one.
