As above. I never use mine.

Judging by what they sell for preowned in game/cex etc, no not really unless you are super skint, I’d keep it for if you have younger relatives that may want one in the future.

That’s pretty much what I thought, thanks.

Well they have a Bluray player, wifi, HDMI and plenty of apps for all the catch up telly, so still a pretty handy box to have.

    PS3? PS3?

I’ve just found my PS2 in the garage. They go for about £25 on eBay with a few games, or £12 to Music Magpie.

I was given a PS2 for my birthday, £25 from a charity shop. Can get games for a couple of quid.

I’ll bite, how much do you want for it, any games?

I don’t know what they are worth, but they are still a very good gaming machine (and BlueRay etc as mentioned above).

From what I have seen of my kids playing the PS4, I cannot tell a massive difference from the PS3 (I am sure I will be shot down for that comment!).

If it’s cheap I’m tempted, mines on the blink and I’ve just bought GT6.

    Thanks for the input.

I never intended to use this as a selling thread so I’ll put an ad in the correct place in the next few days.

This is the first gaming machine I’ve had and I don’t follow the market in general so I genuinely have no idea if these things sell.

Well, they’re only worth peanuts. 😉

    What PS3 is it?

EBay’s completed listings will give you a good idea of what you could get.

Keep thinking I must get round to finishing those games… on my PS2! 😀

Still sits there beside the TV. Along with the Wii, also unused for years, though still plugged in.

Can’t be bothered with games though these days. Too much investment of time. There were days where I’d be playing them solid all day. It’s the same with films. 2 hours to sit watching a film when there’s other stuff to be done. An arse when I look at the stack of Blu Rays and even old DVDs I’ve never watched, and probably never will now. Mid life hassles.

Yep, pretty much the same for me.

I use mine far more for playing blu ray and watching various iPlayers and Netflix than I do for playing games (although I do play games). Think I must have had it for about 7 years now, and I think it gets used most days. Best piece of equipment I ever bought.

    Sorry – thread hijack.
We have a donated 1st gen ps3 which is very (very) noisy when in use – so much so that it can’t be used as a bluray player for anything less violent than Starship Troopers.
    Are the newer ones quieter?

Yep. We upgraded to a slimline PS3 (bought from hereabouts, a good few years back) for that reason and whilst not silent it doesn’t ever sound like the old vacuum cleaner PS3s of yore.

Still not as quiet as my PS2 tho … 🙂

game.co.uk had load of pre-owned ps3 with 12 month warranty, but when i last looked they had got rid of all of them just before christmas (or perhaps taken them off to “force” newer console purchases as christmas gifts) you do see quite a few in high street pawn/trader/independent second hand gaming stores.

the ones on gumtree seem overpriced (at least where i am) £100+ considering a ps4 is getting as low as 249, and you can also pick up official warranted refurb ps4 now, i saw one for 200 quid.

am i right in thinking ps3 games cannot be played on ps4? and you can only download & purchase certain “conversions” of older titles from the PS network ?

You can’t play PS3 games on a PS4 (at the moment – not sure if you’ll be able to in the future?)
I still play on mine quite regularly but mostly use it for the music collection I’ve built up on it. I’d like to transfer it soon, but am I right in thinking it can’t be done? I think I tried it years ago but it became a proper faff so gave up. Anyone know if it’s any easier now?
