I think you need a Scottish fellow to answer properly, I'm aware of the word, but here we say gip, with a hard G.

I tend towards "Boak" although, if i suddenly come across something, i may accidentally "Boke" instead of "Boak"

Had a woman today who gave me the proper dry boak. Coughing bits of lung up and all sorts.

west cost of scotland accents would shorten it to boke, east coast accents would more likely be boak.

it'd gi me the dry boke
