Which spelling is it?
"Boak".
As in, "Jeeezus! That wid gie ye the boak!"
I think you need a Scottish fellow to answer properly, I'm aware of the word, but here we say gip, with a hard G.
I tend towards "Boak" although, if i suddenly come across something, i may accidentally "Boke" instead of "Boak"
