    Agreed. It’s all obviously nonsense.

Think you guys are all missing that the OP is BS and the guy is quite willing to sell his bike.
As mentioned I think this is an elaborate classified attention ad.

I’ve been married a long old time and I have to say that if you are discussing your situation on here instead of talking to her about it you are just storing up trouble for your self.

    Let’s cut to the chase.

    I’ll offer £20.

Wow, some very cynical people on here. I guess that’s from being a cyclist, I’m starting to feel that cycling is making me more angry and more cynical everyday!

For what it’s worth part of me does want to sell the bike, it was great to ride yes, but I only took up mountain biking as a bit of fun and I can’t help thinking the most fun I had was bashing around Cannock on a beaten up anthem. This bike would never get the use it deserves as I just don’t care enough. I’ve loved building the thing, but I think this was one bike too far, I can’t keep pretending I’m on my old wage.

Don’t worry though guys, if I do decide to sell it I won’t need to write on here anymore!

I’d be very wary of making assumptions that people on here are cyclists. Judging from the cyclist safety threads it’s populated more by frustrated motorists.

It it wasn’#t fun there’s not many of that woudl do it. Cynical or no.

Tom – I wasn’t being cynical, just observant of behaviour similar to that which has been seen many times before when posters use the bike or chat forum to get some interest going in a piece of kit, often bike or car, that they are wanting to sell, recognising that these forums see a lot more views than the classifieds.

If you are genuinly being pressured into selling it due to the need to fund other life purchases then it’s a real shame, and as others have said,if you could find a way to keep it rather than take a loss selling, that would surely be better all round for you ?

    you say this.

Wow, some very cynical people on here.

and then go on to say this.

For what it’s worth part of me does want to sell the bike,

proving that I/we are right. So not cynical, just able to see through bullshit.

For what it’s worth i don’t care if you tout for business selling your bike or not. just thought it was funny people wasting their time giving you suggestions to help you keep a bike you quite clearly want shot of.

    Ok.

    £30.

I will just have to convert the kids to Judaism, to get out of buying them any presents this year.

So, so back to the OP’s advert.

If you split it I’d be interested in the Frame and Forks.

    email in profile.

iainc, I was hoping for some suggestions, and some of them have been really good, like keeping the frame and selling the nice components and getting some more standard ones.
I have already done that with the shifters which have been swapped from XX to X9.
I never meant to use this to advertise, I haven’t been writing on here long, so I hadn’t seen the activity you describe. But I’m really sorry if it came across like that. Just wanted to share my frustration! I’m more annoyed at myself than anything else, that I don’t have reason to use it more, or that I don’t love mountainbiking as much as I thought!

I have to concentrate on road biking/triathlon next year, so the road bike and TT bike have to be kept.

For what it’s worth part of me does want to sell the bike,

I only took up mountain biking as a bit of fun

This bike would never get the use it deserves as I just don’t care enough

So it’s not your dream bike then?

It’s a nice bike you’ll lose loads on, but you’ve basically made the decision that it was a stupid thing to buy and you have to sell it, and you’re making it your wife’s fault?

And… why do you have to concentrate on road/tri?

I started reading this thread feeling some compassion, but I have been ground down by the amount of times that ‘lose’ has been misspelt as ‘loose’.

    For that reason, I’m out.

My dream bike cost just over £4000 to build.
When the boiler needed replacing xterramrs, ask me to sell it to help some funds.
I did and i got £1000, i am sad about this.
It was a year ago and i might be warm in the house, but i still miss my bike

njee, good point, I guess its not, I think I just thought it would be. Something really really fun that would re-ignite that feeling I got when I first took up mountain biking. Oh well.
And I have to concentrate on road/tri next year as I hope soon thats going to be my job! For a very short time though!

    Either:
    – you got a lot of use out of it

    Or:
    – you sold it for far less than you should/could have

So you get given a bike…?

STW in missing the important facts shocker 🙄 (floor needs sweeping, wall needs repainting).

    Stunning bike though.

The two grand you would get for the bike IF YOU’RE LUCKY you could easily put on a credit card as you’re in full time employment and the interest would still be less than you’re going to lose by selling.

There is also an unnecessary loop of hose going to the back brake.

Have you thought about putting it on ebay and linking on the main forum?

The hose is way to long! Wasn’t sure what else to do with it?!?

Painstakingly built over the past few months. Rode like an absolute dream. But the boss has called time on my toy collection and something has to give.

I can see why. Gawd its **** ugly. Sorry someone had to say it. Luckily your missus has an aesthetic sense of taste.
