Anyone out there have any experience with the hope tech enduro wheels? Look good but want to know if they can put up with enduro racing and don’t dink easily

In my experience they do dink really easily, after a week in Les Arcs the lip of my rear rim had a lot of dings on it. I was running maxxis dhf dual ply at 35 psi and am usually fairly easy on wheels. I also found them really hard to get a tire to seat onto. Wasn’t running tubeless but had to use soapy water and 80psi to seat them. This was about 18 months ago so maybe it’s a different profile now?

I’ve had a pair on my bike for about 18 months now. Found them great. Picked up a couple of very minor dinks in that time, but with the stuff I ride on 5 days a week they should be completely mullered by now. I certainly wouldn’t class them as dinking easily. I’ve had other wheels which were way way softer.
Tyres are a bit tough to seat, but a good blast with the compressor and they’re sorted.

Wasn’t impressed, rear refuses to hold air tubeless. I wouldn’t buy again

Heavier and narrower than their competition. A mate has them on his SC Solo and dinged them badly on the first ride on a tame section of trail. I’m a big hope fanboy but wouldn’t touch their wheels these days, shame really because I’ve had hope hoops with stans rims in the past and been really pleased with them.

Ive got them on 2 bikes, 26 and 29 no dinks, maybe I’m not gnarr enough but they’ve been fine for me, tubeless was no problem either, gorilla tape, stans valves and flash charger. Conti and spesh tyres.
Theyre not very wide by current standards, but I’m happy. Havent hucked to flat or done massive rock gardens though. Have minced around peaks and bpw.

Heavy, weak, relatively narrow and the freehub doesn’t seal well. Thought Hope made brilliant kit until recently started to move away from them, realising they’re not all that. Only Hope kit I run now is a ceramic BB which just keeps going.

Had 650b set for just over a year. Been raced by my clumsy self a number of times and are now happily on a hardtail.
No dings or wobbles, not ‘that’ narrow unless you’re achingly on trend and I’ve had no problems sealing them with Schwalbe, Vee or WTB tyres. Free hub is stupidly loud though….

I’ve a set of 29er Hope Enduros. I imagine they would ding if i was daft/trendy enough to run low tyre pressures and ‘raced’ enduro but i’m not and i don’t. I’m not hard on wheels though as i have a bit of skill 😛 Rear is boost and both wheels are stiffer and less explody than i expected. Noisy freehub is good as it doubles up as a bell when freewheeling. Came fitted to the bike when new but a decent set of wheels imo.

Put a couple of dents in mine but they still run true and seal tubelessly without bother. I’d buy them again.

Have a look at DT E1700s. Better components, and better built.

I have them fitted to my 29 Anthem and had no issues. Did my fastest ever lap of the Gorrick 12 hour this year so they arent too shabby. I went to buy the XC version but the LBS advised against them and he knows I mainly ride singletrack in Hampshire – and I think he was right.
Ignore the name and look at the actual item, they are a very good wheel but probably not for Enduro racing.

Got a set a few weeks ago, tubeless setup no problem, seated ok and went up with a track pump (chunky monkey/smorgasbord)

No damage seen so far and I’m luxuriating in the relative silence of the free hub compared to the previous E13 wheels they replaced.

I’ve the XC version, been on the bike for 2 1/2 years without a problem. Then again the only air I get is in my lungs 😀 Tubeless isn’t a problem, usually don’t even need anything more than a track pump.

Looks like this thread is going all marmite!

What’s the best alternatives at the moment for simalar money?
Looking for a set of 29er, I’ve used hope/arch ex before and been happy with them.

Rubbish imo and I don’t ofte say that about Hope stuff

Dinged mine on the first ride I had them, few months on and they had absolutely loads of dings so I sold them and got something else

By far the weakest rims I’ve had

I’ve now got ex471 and with sensible pressures they are like kryptonite compared to those hoe rims

I don’t rate mine (the rims), no better than my spare superstar wheels which look like they come from the same factory but The hopes seem softer.
I have a few sets of weels dating back to the last milenium and the year and a bit old Hopes are nearly for the bin.

This is interesting to hear about all the dents,I think mine are great for the money but rims ‘feel’ heavy and sluggish to pedal and I too have had the rear dent a couple of times on rocky terrain-which is unusual for me so guessing they aren’t as strong here as their weight suggests.I need a new wheelset and thinking of going back to custom build hope/stans combo with MK3 Archs for around £450

I’v got the xc version & ride single speed rigid, had them for a year with no issues.

Bombproof, not that heavy, but not wide enough to be fashionable. Did the trick for us for a few years without any bother or worries.
