I’m think of buying a new lightish wheelset for my 100mm Ti hardtail.

Will Pro3’s with the integral rotor or Pro3 6 bolt hubs on a ZTR Crest rim be too light for my 14st bulk?

Was an 85kg limit recommend for these wheels?

Depends on a few things really:

Where would you be riding it mostly?

Do you like to leave the ground much?

Is 14 stone fully laden (in kit with full Camelbak)?

I’m 12 stone (unladen) and ride Pro 2 Flows and ride mostly in the Peaks on my Soda. The benefit of the Flows is you can run a narrower tyre as it spreads more on the wider rim without worrying about dinging the rims.
I run 2.1 Advantage LUST on mine and don’t feel the need for any wider tyres for the Lakes/Highlands etc.

Don’t go for the 24h versions and you’ll be fine. I’m 83kg and have been hammering the hell out of my 32h Pro3 XC6 on crest for 2 years now.

I have some XC6s, I keep them for racing XC/Endurance, but used them a couple of times over the winter due to problems with training wheels,

I have broken 2 spokes on the back wheelin a couple of months, also the front wheel was completely trashed in a race crash last summer, the crash was quite severe but I suspect other wheels would have held up,

    I am 12st

I run crest/pro2 sp wheels , I weigh 11 stone in damp clothes and havent had any problems, but i dont ride anything to extreme. I would personaly prefer the insurance of a heavier wheelset if I was either heavier or more aggresive on a bike.

some people must be a little, er, clumsy. I’ve raced on mine for 2 years, then they’re on the 5″ trail centre bike with a jumps and stuff chucked in and last summer they went to the alps and did the Megavanlance course with no issues.

They are pretty damn strong for their weight, get the SP versions for a stiffer wheel but remember to take your spare spokes just in case as SP spokes are tricky to find in shops. Crest rims don’t really like sideways action, I folded one in an OTB with the wheel turned at 90deg. I wouldn’t expect much to survive that tbh though.

Can the front run a 15mm axle?
I thought the Pro3 was only available in 24 hole & SP (straight pull)?

Do you have Pro3’s XC3 with the intregral 3 arm rotors?
Will the 160mm 3 arm rotors work with Shimano XT?

    Hi,
Yeah the Pro3 is easily convertable to 15mm axle but not 20mm.I have the 3 arm integral rotors.Should work fine with XT calipers and any calipers designed around 160mm rotors for that matter.

Hmmm, can’t be sure now but I have pro3 6bolt SP 32h wheels, having said that I’d get the pro2 evo anyway now. at 14st I’d not be getting the 24h versions unless you ride very light, the 32h are not a lot heavier but a lot stiffer.

I have a front pro 3 xc6 crest 24 hole and a rear pro 2 SP crest 32 hole which seemed like a good compromise as I’m harder on rear wheels, especially on the hardtail.

Thanks for the replies – I believe Pro3 is 24h only.
I think they’ll probably be too light for me.
