Had two CRVs. They are Haldex coupled, so no diff lock. In practice, I’ve driven mine over muddy fields and up snow covered hills. The system works fine and you know when the rear drive has kicked in.
Based on my family’s experience, I’d struggle to call Land Rover Freelanders “vehicles” at all. Ours seemed to be forever waiting for another new engine. The Range Rover was no better and has now been off road as in off THE road for a year waiting for a replacement engine. 😉
BTW: The new 1.6 diesel really is 2WD and about 110 kg lighter than the AWD 2.2 version.
