Classic first world problem but my long quest to find the perfect tea mug is proving fruitless. Requirements are:

    Does such a design exist?
    • China or Porcelain (of course)
    • Lager volume, but not bucket size
    • Thick mug to hold temperature but tapering towards the top to a fine rim (to avoid slurping)This is the really critical bit for me
    • Ergonomic handle in ‘harp’ type shape
    • Nice manly design, no flowers.

Love the shape of that mug. This is going in the right direction. What sort of volume did it have.

Slightly concerned that it looks quite camp though!

Klunk – did you not buy another? They’re only £5.75! I might buy one for myself and get MrsG to give it to me for Christmas.

Actually….. Just went to order one and standard delivery more than doubles its price! Maybe not, then 😕

Edit: Any first hand reviews of the STW mug?

Edit #2: Just checked and the tea mug is no longer listed. Ho hum.

harry potter quidditch mug from 2000. big handle for fat fingers and a tapered side so volume is large but not pint tankard sized.

BUT the smart thing about the taper means that the tea cools faster when its hot and then less as you drink it – awesome.

Yep, I want it tapered in shape.

I’ve got a STW coffee mug. Ideal except for the fact that is is fat round the brim. Okay for coffee but not tea. And the fact that the print work comes off in the dishwasher (on both the original and its replacement!)

The perfect mug is out there somewhere,……

I have one like this (only it’s got a seascape rather than a puffin on it)
    highland stoneware 1 pint mug
Mind you when i got mine (late 90’s) it was £18.

Euro Disney was a good source of man sized mugs with fairly apt characters. Mug is thick, heavy and had managed a good year of being thrown in to the washing up bowl by the office cleaner.

    ^^ Like it. 😆

(Still not as good as mine though, mug-wise)

    you pansy-wearing, tea-drinking, whippet-worrying northerners are weird.

A mug is for coffee. A mug is a mug.

This one for me, but in the larger ‘bucket’ size.

It doesn’t taper, then again I like a good, manly slurp now and again.

yes, we do mugs but this is one i keep one in stock for printing special jobs and for ones i do for freinds, use it myself, i call them…

basically it holds 15oz so big enough for a decent brew but at the same time not comedy size. best bit is that its a nice heavy’ish pot, chunky’ish, again neither without being silly, really comforting to handle and hold as it holds heat.

In all seriousness Kath Kidston mugs are my fave.

The right size, good handle, keeps a brew warm for long enough, and most importantly a good open design to fit most biscuits for dunking

Really funny this should randomly come up now, was discussing it at the weekend. My search continues.
