    Is it possible to go 2 x 10 by just removing the outer ring , fitting a guard and readjusting the mech?

    Or do i newed new front shifter etc.. (currently running 3 x 10 XT)

    Yep, that’ll be fine. You may find a bigger outer ring more useful, a 36 or something.
