    Longitude, with beer

Looks more blue than black in this pic, so studio shots obviously not showing true colour.

Have they gone back to a steel fork on the Longitude?

That’s a good point, forgot about that. Steel fork.
Tarn gets a carbon fork (was that alu previous also?)

Has the longitude gone back to a 27.2 seat tube? Thatd be a shame, i thought the 31.6and shim it was a great idea. Lack of tapered head tube a shame too, i suppose because everyone wanted a steel fork.

Stealth routing swapped for second bottle cage in frame as well maybe

Tour de Fer is drop bar again, but with roadie gearing!?!

I like the new flat bar commuter.

Being an owner of the 2015 Longitude, I was really disappointed with the 2016 model.

Every time I tell someone I have a 2015 Longitude, they tend to say “wow – that’s a really versatile bike”, but the 2016 model lost some of that versatility.

I think the 2017 model is a return to form. 27.5, but 29 if you want it to be. Rack mounts have returned. It’s like the best bits of the 2015 and 2016 model in one bike.

On a related note, would putting 27.5 x 2.8 inch wheels/tires on my 2015 Longitude be a total disaster?

    @cosmicpop – I run my 2015 with 650b wheels. Hugo rims with a 3″ NN either end. It’s a hoot!

    @letmetalktomark – that’s fantastic!

I only thought of running 27.5+ on my 29 frame when the spec of the new Longitude mentioned it’s 27.5+ or plain 29er.

I’ve been trying to think of the lowest-cost way of getting 2.8 or 3-inch tyres on my stock Longitude 2015 but it always looks like I might have to convert to 1×10 which I’m not overly keen on (for mostly hassle and cost reasons). However if I can get 27.5 wheels with 2.8 or 3.0 inch tyres to fit with my current 3×10 setup then I’d be a happy man. Getting 27.5 wheels might not be cheap but i don’t mind as long as I can do it myself 🙂

    Thanks for the ideas!

Wish the CdF frameset was the same blue as the CdF 20. The black is so meh. Escapade is gonna win my money I guess….

    very disappointed with color choices

however I like the longitude with that low bb, it may be a great alternative to Surly ECR

What no latitude? That was on my list for the new bike in the spring. 😐

I did a comparison of the High Latitude and Tarn 29 last year, on paper they appeared to be the same frame bar a few mm in the chain stay. Not sure if the 27.5s were close too? Plenty of Latitudes on offer at the moment if that’s what your after though

That new longitude seems to have lost all the bits that made me want the 2016 version. Though the steel fork does look nice.

    Site is very slow!

I am wondering whether the 24″ kids bike wold be a bike that would last my 7yo a few years though, instead of the traditional isla/frog bike. Hard to tell by the measurements.

That 2017 Longitude addresses the niggles I had with the 2016 model, and could be my next bike when the current one breaks. Pity the headset isn’t tapered (a la Marin Pine Mountain), though, otherwise a versatile little package.

It’s 100% rubbish. I’ve given up trying to look at anything on it now, it was all there prior to the “grand unveil” at 3pm yesterday and worked ok then, I inadvertently stumbled across it when looking for something else on Google at lunchtime yesterday.

They’ve been teasing the launch yesterday for a month now, you’d have thought they would have plenty of time to get a functioning site in place.

I’ve not had a page of the site load fully yet so got a bit bored or trying, there are more pics on this thread than loaded successfully for me!

Site still quotes a stealth dropper port and oversized seat tube.

The 16 model will take 29er wheels. Just not 29+ which it looks like the 17 model also doesn’t. I think my 16 has rack mounts so maybe that was a running change.

As far as I can see its got very slightly revised angles, steel fork and non tapered headtube. Frame only price is also down by £100.

Look like some good deals on 2016 kit around already (Swinerton cycles 40% off frames!).

That 2017 Longitude very clearly has a 27.2 seat tube over 31.6. I think that’s a carry over from the previous text and just not been updated.

The page is so incomplete its hard to tell. Says 34.9 for front mech (indicating oversized) but 27.2 seatpost and the blurb references having the large size. Spec also lists 73mm Boost BB?

The through axle appears to have been dropped on the front. Wonder if that means its a standard width instead of boost fork.

Well spotted on the Longitude. The Genesis brand manager is out at Eurobike at the moment but I’ve emailed him to double check what is correct and to update the website upon his return.

Mister P if you can get any guidlines on the kids Core 24 sizing I’d be grateful, perhaps enough to buy you a Stella 😉

The longitude wasn’t boost at the back last year was it? boost fork but 135 back end. Imagine its the same again this year.

Whatever though, we should be thankful they are at least trying to be better than the zero or completely incorrect info on-one dribble out.

Yeap 135 back end and boost fork (with 15mm axle) on the 16 model. The steel fork is clearly qr though.

cx bikes seem expensive for spec to me. Also nothing narks me more than loads of bike shots for cx and not one of mud clearance around bb.

It’s always three steps forward, two back for me with Genesis.

The road bikes look really classy, the Equilibrium Disc especially.

The MTB’s are genuinely interesting – The Longitude looks pretty spot on to me.

The Tour de Fer has been a great, bugdet drop bar bike (2015).
Then a brilliant value or dream spec flat bar bike (2016).

Now it’s drop bar again, but really compromised by higher gearing.
The drivetrain last year was spot on for loaded touring, why on earth would you change it?

How about drop bar and a straight bar version, each in a top spec or value build?
2 frames, 4 bikes, proper gears.
    Everyone covered.

The Cross bikes are very pretty, but the alloy ones seem to have replaced the CdA, which took 40mm tyres and weighed about the same.
Not sure of the max clearance on the new ones, hope it’s the same.
Would seem to be a daft move if it was less, given current trends.

The Skyline Commuter looks decent VFM, could make a very decent budget euro style tourer out of one of those by sticking a rack and some daft bars on it.
    🙂

Much prefer the look and feel of the new website, btw.

Glad I have a 2015 CDF 30 rather than the current or 17 offerings. Looks and rides much better with the carbon fork than the steel one. I guess it’s all about the money though..

I’ll look into the CdA not being on the website as I believe there should be two versions of this for 2017.

    Hmm good point.

A bit expensive for the spec is pretty much par for Genesis though. 2.3k for an Ultegra build with some ok-ish training wheels doesn’t seem too unreasonable. Though I suspect they sell the frame only for 1500 quid to make the full builds seem better value than they actually are. You can get the full build carbon CX10 for just 200 quid more than the frame only price!

Oops, that was the one i was thinking of but I read the price as £2999 by mistake! 😳

It’s a really nice bike, on my wife’s shortlist for a new one at the mo.

Oh, and on Android, your TdF page is in English, but triggering a Google Translate request to translate from Catalan.

    For all the new range?

Quite taken with that Vapour and and I’ve always fancied a Genesis. Hmm.

Specifically the Longitude, didn’t ask about the others; the more I look at it the more I like it. I’ll have to measure up my current (26″er) to see how the numbers match up.
