So is France not a safe country then?

I think for some, such as Afghan refugees, they would like to show their gratitude to the UK for helping the Taliban take control of 100% of their country. When the UK first went into Afghanistan 20 years ago the Taliban only controlled 90% of the country.

When I say “first” went into Afghanistan I of course mean in the 21st century, the UK has been interfering in Afghanistan for a good couple of hundred years.

So have a lot of other countries. Including the ‘safe’ ones next door.

But yeah, UK is evil righto…

The ones who are already shouldering the larger burden, France have been taking roughly 4 times as many refugees as the UK, Germany 10 times as many. They are also processing and sending back many more who don’t meet the criteria, it is perhaps a novel idea that the UK could try, actually dealing with the problem rather than abusing it in the media to rouse the racists.

BBC complaint submitted. Maybe if enough people complain the BBC will realise their error?

unlikely I known but worth a try

That Fiona Bruce thing @Klunk posted up there.

Classic example of taking something said out of context , in order to stir up shite ( and possibly try to cancel her ).

If you watched it , you would know the full sentence was “Friends of his have said it did happen , it was a one off”.
Those were the exact words cos I just checked it on iplayer ( around 48:16 )

i was more taken back with Ken Clarkes facial expression when the other woman pointed out it was on record that he was a wife beater.

The population of Afghanistan is 40 million. Will we take them all? The Taliban were there before we went in. Post 9/11. There are hundreds of millions of other people who would prefer living in the UK to where they currently are.

The UK needs to decide who gets to live here. Not leave it as a prize for the winners of an obstacle race.

Disappointing from a Refuge ambassador, especially as the victim is on record saying he ‘hit me many times, over many years’.

I put up with this fantasist bullshit on Twitter – really disapointed to see it in here.

Gotta keep that license money flowing I guess.

I think that is a big part of it here, yes.

Yep, the Fiona Bruce thing taken completely out of context, what she said was a quote and the way she deployed it in no way diminished the seriousness of the crime, quite the opposite in fact.

And we subsequently employed many of them, not only with a wage but on the promise we would oust Terry and leave them in a better place. We **** it and left so many of them and their families to be murdered by the Taliban. Leaving them to make their own way here is doubling down on the betrayal of that promise IMO.

For those of us who served there, who worked with them, that’s a rather sore point and one that festers on my conscience and those of many of my former colleagues.

I wonder if players and managers will either decline to be interviewed or exercise their freedom of speech if they are interviewed on Saturday?

Could be an massive own goal for the BBC. (Pun intended as a homage to Gary).

Yeah, I just took a peak on twitter (not a user there) and there is a lot of support at least from sports journalists. I think this is growing into a bigger issue now. I think the tories have genuinely shot themselves in the foot on this one by pushing such blatant censorship.

Bruce clarified that it was a one-off as described by his friends, when she said it happened multiple times.

At this rate I doubt we’ll have a MOTD tomorrow night. At best it’ll be a purely highlights show with no studio pundits discussion

Or bolstered their dwindling support by getting the “liberal woke pundit” suspended

Yep, they’ve arsed this one up, can’t see it going well on Saturday.

Yep, once we’ve sunsetted all the awkward laws and got rid of that human rights nonsense we can do some sort of hunger games type thing for anyone unpatriotic 🙂

It already did when it signed up to the numerous international treaties on migration and asylum.

It’s just that the Daily Mail doesn’t like brown people.

The Fiona Bruce comment is not completely out of context.
His wife said that he beat her.
His friends opinions should not be brought in to the discussion to limit the impact of him beating his wife. Did they live in his house every second that he was there.

Which former HIGNFY host that can also stick balloons to ceilings, is going to get the call up for a guest MOTD role? 😮

They were pretty keen on brown shirts during the 1930s.

News Quiz was good on this tonight – and arguably more ‘leftist’ than anything GL said.

It is odd, I was always very surprised at the lack of journalistic support for the BBC following the Hutton report, the whole industry largely just accepted that farce with barely a murmur. That was a mountain to die on for journalistic integrity, Linkers comments on the other hand are a mere molehill, but it feels like something is brewing.

    Ooh, getting interesting.

How much of a free hand do you think the BBC have in these decisions?

I think their political overseers may have underestimated how popular Gary Lineker is.

Given their Chairman is a die hard Tory and friend of Bojo, I’m sure he’s very keen to help the (Tory) cause by blacklisting anyone who is critical of government policy.

I do find it ironic that in reacting to criticism of them acting like Germany in the 1930’s, they react like the Germans would have done in the 1930’s
