dander has it – don’t forget where he learnt his managerial skills, the connection is there, finally got us out of League One and doing well in tne Championship.
And after last night, already has experience of losing to Fulham. Perfect fit for the Man U job.
neilnevillFree MemberSimeone, ancelloti, Pep.
Let’s help Mrs binners win her next bet.
binnersFull MemberShe’s already expressed an opinion….
Apparently, he’ll be able to keep us up 😂
johndohFree MemberBit leftfield but I’d give it to someone like Kieran McKenna, what a job he’s done at Ipswich.
Absolutely no chance.
That was exactly what I was going to say. He’s having a good season, no doubt about it, but he’s not used to managing the prima donnas that Man U have – they need someone with proven experience at the top level.
danderFull MemberI know they won’t but appointing big names hasn’t exactly worked. Fair chance McKenna will be managing in the PL next season anyway. Suspect they will target de Zerbi. Or finally get Poch when Chelsea boot him.
MoreCashThanDashFull Memberbut he’s not used to managing the prima donnas that Man U have
Double checked on Wikipedia:
Under 18 coach at Man U – 2016-2018
Assistant Manager at Man U – 2018-2021I agree they probably want a more prominent name, but probably worth a tenner of MrsBinners money!
MSPFull MemberDe Zerbi is on the list for better run clubs that manu, I think he can leave it till the end of next year to get a good job before he might think about ruining his reputation at old trafford.
neilnevillFree MemberOr Nagelsman. He’d he a fair shout maybe, if he isn’t sold on the national tea…..oh hang on! National team… of course! Gareth is supposedly a man manager, perfect fit.
slowpuncheurFree MemberWhilst naturally, my heart bleeds for Binners and co. I feel obliged to point out that Newcastle beat that shower with 7 players that were there before the takeover. We had 5/6 full-backs line up at kick off and our 2 centre-halves had ONE game between them in something like 400 days. Eddie Howe continues to amaze and impress me.
Whilst the plight of Man U isn’t remotely as bad as that threats facing Sheffield Wednesday, Reading, Wigan, Southend etc I do remember well what is like when the anger and frustration burns out and you just feel apathetic. Newcastle was a zombie club for most of Ashley’s reign. Treating water and keeping the dividends going. People went to the match through habit or obligation, many just went to town for a pint or eight with their mates and the match sort of got in the way.
So I’m conflicted. I’ve grown up having to listen to the self-entitled, arrogant Man U fans tell us they’re the best club on earth but also do have some sympathy with the fans who only have an expection of a club that is half well ran and a team that represents their community. They’re an awful long way from both of those right now.
You can talk about sacking ETH and new managers all you want but nothing changes in the long term until new owners come in.
fasgadhFree MemberBig team content.
In another place – I see Bayern got dumped out of their cup competition by Saarbrücken
– 3rd division, the other night. Excellent.
dazhFull MemberYou can talk about sacking ETH and new managers all you want but nothing changes in the long term until new owners come in.
Maybe it’s just that ETH is a shit manager? He has Steve Mclaren as his deputy FFS!
binnersFull MemberMaybe its all the above?
It seems really odd that at the back end of last season we were actually playing some decent football under TH, we signed players to strengthen expecting the team to kick on, then watched in amazement as the team regressed by an absolutely staggering level and now look like a pub side
slowpuncheurFree MemberETH is clearly not shit but he’s completely the wrong manager for Man U. McLaren is however excellent at putting cones out and maximising the effect of his few stands of hair.
CaherFull MemberI’d love to see Big Sam get the job and start to get results playing Samball.
PhilbyFull MemberIn other news it was reassuring to see Leeds beat Leicester to put a dent in their seemingly unstoppable march back to the Premier League.
MOT / ALAW
neilnevillFree MemberA win! A win binners! And with it your lot don’t seem so far away from the business end of the table. It is still very early days really
Newcastle looking good. It does seem like a more competitive league this year.
1danderFull MemberNewcastle are solid – simply no way through for Arsenal, especially after the goal. Any thoughts on the goal? My instinct watching live was the ball went out and on balance a foul by Joelinton on Gabriel, Gordon was onside though. Arteta raging!
binnersFull MemberIt was a cracking game! The multiple VAR check on the goal was bonkers! Both teams should have been down to ten men in the first half. Two straight reds for definite
And we got a win! Hardly the most convincing ot performances but it’s 3 points and Mrs Binners lost a bet for once
PrinceJohnFull MemberGlad to see Utd win today, means ETH will struggle on much to everyone’s amusement.
Just seen the Arsenal Newcastle game on MOTD how both sides weren’t down to 10 men I don’t know and the VAR for the goal was a joke.
binnersFull MemberJust watching MOTD and Doku looks like another terrifyingly good addition to the Citeh squad. Handy when you’re short of decent attacking players
CletusFull MemberI thought that Doku’s four assists versus Bournemouth might be a new record for most in a Premier League game but it just matched the existing record and was the eighth time the feat had been performed – see others below.
Dennis Bergkamp – Arsenal vs. Leicester City (20 February 1999)
José Antonio Reyes – Arsenal vs. Middlesbrough (14 January 2006)
Cesc Fàbregas – Arsenal vs. Blackburn Rovers (4 October 2009)
Emmanuel Adebayor – Tottenham Hotspur vs. Newcastle United (11 February 2012)
Santi Cazorla – Arsenal vs. Wigan Athletic (14 May 2013)
Harry Kane – Tottenham Hotspur vs. Southampton (20 September 2020)
Paul Pogba – Manchester United vs. Leeds United (14 August 2021)
Jérémy Doku – Manchester City vs. Bournemouth (4 November 2023)Interesting four of these players were playing for Arsenal when they did this.
Another interesting stat. City started Haaland and Alvarez, scored six, but neither of the strikers scored – not many will have predicted that.
1wartonFree MemberNUFC v Arsenal was a real Blood and thunder game, which probably benefitted us, as arsenal don’t have the players for that fight IMO.
havertz is a straight red. Absolute leg breaker. Bruno was petulant, but you can’t do that so really both teams should have gone to 10.
the goal is one of those things. Ball looks in but no tech to prove that is daft. I think Gordon is behind the ball, so I think he’s onside. Foul, in real time looks ok, but in slo mo over and over agin looks worse.
the difference between the two managers post match is night and day. Eddie is very pragmatic about the awful foul. Arteta is totally unreasonable, I look forward to his ban.
argeeFull MemberJust seen the Arsenal Newcastle game on MOTD how both sides weren’t down to 10 men I don’t know and the VAR for the goal was a joke.
VAR did what it was meant to, either provide definitive proof against the decision, or go with the on-field decision.
dc1988Full MemberOn the basis VAR is meant to overturn clear and obvious errors, I think it did its job.
FWIW I thought the ball was in and it wasn’t offside. The foul I’m not sure, I don’t think there was much to it but the straight arms stopped the Arsenal player from jumping and competing for the ball
binnersFull MemberThomas Frank from Brentford for Man U.
And be the next on the list in the graveyard of managerial careers that is Old Trafford?
Why would he go from a well-run club where he calls the shots and is getting great results, to the chaos of Man Yoo and being told by the marketing department which team you’re going to be putting out, dependent on this months replica shirt sales in Singapore?
argeeFull MemberCheer up Binners, your team is back, onwards and upwards for Ten Hag and Captain Bruno 😁
blackhatFree MemberGooner here……the ball was in, it probably was a foul, Gordon was onside. Havertz challenge was a stiff yellow but i wouldn’t have been surprised had he been shown for a red. As for Bruno…..he got away with one on Jorginho and why he wasn’t shown yellow for walloping a ball at an opponent is baffling……yet his actual booking looked harsh. There is obviously a deep seated animosity between the two sets of players but there is something about the way Eddie Howe teams do a lot of niggling and moaning which make them very hard to watch whoever they play. We so need a proper presence up front.
dazhFull MemberArteta is totally unreasonable, I look forward to his ban.
I said to a mate last night after the goal went in that Arteta would completely lose his shit if it turned out to be the winner. I wasn’t wrong. Is it just me or is he the most petulant self-entitled manager in PL history?
Eddie Howe teams do a lot of niggling and moaning which make them very hard to watch whoever they play.
Trust me it’s great to watch if you’re from Newcastle 🙂. They’re aggressive for sure, and that’s working very well for them, but I fail to see how that’s a bad thing.
johndohFree Memberbut I fail to see how that’s a bad thing
It’s not a bad thing if you are Newcastle fan (at the end of the day, blinkers are well and truly on for you all right now). But as fans of watching football, it isn’t so good.
2binnersFull MemberIs it just me or is he the most petulant self-entitled manager in PL history?
Hi…
dazhFull MemberBut as fans of watching football, it isn’t so good.
Well I have to disagree. There’s nothing better than a full-blooded aggressive match where the players are going at each other hammers and tongs. I remember the Man U match when we beat them 4-3 and Keane got sent off after Shearer wound him up so much his temper snapped. One of the most entertaining things I’ve ever seen on a football pitch. Football is an angry game, and I hope it stays that way.
gobuchulFree Memberbut there is something about the way Eddie Howe teams do a lot of niggling and moaning which make them very hard to watch whoever they play
There was only one lot doing the niggling and moaning last night. Right the way through to Arteta crying to the cameras.
The ref was a joke, Havertz could of broken Longstaffs leg, only gets a yellow, then he books 3 Newcastle players.
The goal was a goal. It was kept in, Joelinton doesn’t commit a foul and Gordon was onside.

That says more about you than anything else.
dazhFull MemberThat says more about you than anything else.
Well I remember being in the stadium that day against Man U and I can assure you 50,000 others completely agreed with me. Take the aggression out of football and no one would watch it.
And why the personal dig BTW? It’s really not necessary. Quite pathetic in fact. 😕
dazhFull MemberYou seriously want to see football matches where everyone is nice and polite with no passion or aggression? I think you’ll find yourself in the minority.
binnersFull MemberI don’t often find myself in agreement with Daz but I’m with him 100% on this.
There was nothing better than when Keane and Viera were taking lumps out of each other in midfield, Keown was monstering Van Nistelroy, Scholes was being Scholes and it felt like a sending off was only seconds away. Handbags all over the pitch with people players all up in each other’s faces. Refs would virtually give up and just let them get on with it as everyone was giving as good as they got. It was ace! 😃
One of the best matches I’ve ever watched was the infamous ‘Battle of the Bridge’ with Chelsea and Spurs. The ref had completely lost control in the first 5 minutes and after that it was basically a 90 minute brawl. Unbelievably there were no red cards. There should have been about 15! It was absolutely bloody brilliant!
