Can a company take 100% of your job role away and give it to someone else (in a different country) and then not offer you redundancy?

They just expect me to take whatever they are going to offer instead.

What if I don’t want the new role or if it’s nothing to do with what I went to Uni to study?

I’m confused to say the least.

They can not changes the terms of your contract without your approval depends if your contract is specific enough to say what you role entails.

    What?

So one day I’ve got a career and the next I’m the odd job man but as my title/department didn’t change there’s nothing I can do??

    😥

As long as they maintain your title & salary i would say there isnt much you can do. Sounds like they are trying to NOT make you redundant by doing this when it may have been the cheaper/easier solution.

    Shitty all the same

Been here 11 years BTW so not sure if it was cheaper to get rid 😉

They’re either trying to keep you in work or trying to piss you off enough to leave on your own accord
I guess you know their MO better than most so should be able to have a good guess at which it is.

At first I thought they were trying to keep me but now so stressed out that I’ve convinced myself they’re trying to force me out 😕

I start my new job tomorrow but they haven’t told me what is is yet 😯

Sounds like a cheap redundancy, forcing you to resign rather than pay you off.

Could this be ‘constructive dismissal’. If you are not in a union perhaps it’s worth contacting ACAS and CAB; both very useful organisations

Yes – they can transfer your role to someone else.
They are doing the right thing by offering you another position.
It would plainly be in their interest to offer you something which uses your skills and from which they will benefit.

11 years at minimum redundancy isnt all that expensive. If you are on a decent salary i would say it would be cheaper for them to go down the redundancy procedure than paying you a good wage to do a none existant job to force you out. Sounds to me like they value your work but havent got their heads around what to do yet
