Ducati have just lumped themselves in with the Japanese brands now, should have stayed with twins. Ducati = big twin. poor effort. Also missed opportunity to reinvent the styling. 2/10 regardless how it rides.
I remember the 1098 owners parking at Brands WSB in the late 90’s
Still love a twin though
My red V twin

I’ve had both a 748 & a 996 – nice to look at but both felt fragile & the servicing costs were 😯 cam belt bi-annually if you did the mileage some do in a car!
Been there, done it. Many years, dozens upon dozens of sports bikes. This was bought as its Mrs Weeksys dream bike she used to own. She’ll do 2-3 track days a year on it. No road though. I did 1 session on track on it to test, but mostly I just bought it because its the prettiest bike on the planet.

Haven’t ridden mine since an engine rebuild a few years ago so it’ll need the belts doing again!
Still love it though.
Talking of strokers, I’m just in from running one I’ve freshly rebuilt for me Da up in the garage in preparation for running it to work tomorrow. It’s only a 125, but so much more fun than a 4 stroke.
Banished to the shower upon entry to the house, mind, but worth it:-)
My Cousin had a KH250 with some cans on it and it was a pig to ride below 2000rpm, then it flew wildly into the distance in a haze of light blue and green.
OP, I do like but my idea of an ideal bike at the mo is a probably a single, plenty of suspension travel, sticky tyres, low weight and a propensity to pick the front end up at the drop of a hat. There was a Husaberg on gummie last week which fitted the bill, but we apparently have no room….
Give me a 916, R1 or a blade. [/QUOTE]
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not against a 4 banger – but yer 2 stroke is far more organic and much more rewarding to ride. And decent pre-mix smells lush. 🙂
