My SARDA mobile kennel (Ford Smax) is fully pimped with a tax disk sized SARDA sticker on the windscreen and nothing else. I do not have any ‘Dogs in Transit’ stickers, battenburg reflective trim or flashing lights. I do not own a high viz jacket and I hope that I do not come across as a Walt.

We do have a radio harnesses that some people think looks a bit GI Joe / utility, I think it they look more like a tupping harness.

I have a HiVis jacket (no faux batternburg squares and it’s red) as we have to wear them when out on a call but beyond that: no stickers, no flashing lights (unless you count the indicators ;-).

There are some, not in the group I’m in thankfully, who do seem to think they need to be lit up like a Christmas tree which makes me chuckle.

I was at one point sporting a stack of antenna on the roof (PMR, VHF/UHF, HF and Radio 4) but a fat pheasant took two out which set me back over £100 I didn’t want to spend esp as I was at the time driving the dog back from the vets from a 3 day stay. Expensive day that. I now remove them and cap the base mounts and only install them when called out.

I do though think I’m missing a trick and will buy a knock-off pair of aviator glasses and some stickers…

I have hi viz stripes and chevrons on the back of my works izuzu as we work roadside and quite often at night people crawl past me thinking I’m plod after previously bearing down on me at mach2.

Never heard of these wannabe guys. We use ‘dog unit’ vans all the time for security on remote sites. These guys mostly have labelled up vans and do boring but vital work for little money. They always seem to think the world of their animals. Without them no-one outside of a city would ever have broadband, flood defences or sewerage because anything metallic not buried in the ground would be lifted by someone in a white transit the moment the site closed.
