I need to get some new cross tyres – ideally up to 34c if possible, not huge clearance on cannondale crosser for much more. Use Schwalbe CX pro’s on my spare wheels – these are very good but a bit narrow for tougher courses at 30c.

Looking at the following options as I can get these for around £20 or so per tyre…
Bontrager Jones 34c (not sure if grippy enough)
Maxxis Mud Wrestler 35c (hopefully not too wide)
Vittoria Cross XG Pro 34c (used to use these in 32c version – worn quick but seemed light and fast)

Any ideas, or should I look at other options? I also like the look of Racing Ralphs but maybe a bit too expensive.

Finally, not into Conti ‘cross’ tyres – had a pair and ditched after one ride!

    advice appreciated! Cheers

I run the vittoria tyres and before I went to tubs found them great in most conditions.

    Would also consider Challenge ..

They are another good alround tyre.

Agree about conti cross tyres.. wear so quick, puncture easily and not great grip.

Maxxis Raze are great all-rounders. Roll well, clear OK in sticky mud and seem a lot more wear-resistant than the dreaded Contis.

Found the Mud Wrestlers to be good in most conditions but maybe wear a bit quick. Been lucky with punctures too.

Cheers – now between Maxxis Raze 35s and the Challenge Grifos 32s! – The Challenge seem cheaper at the moment.

    65 notes for a Tufo? Ouch! That’s FMB/Dugast money.

Don’t use the Tufo sealant I’ve found that that the last couple of bottles had curdled. I put a scoop of Stans in instead.

If you’re paying £90 for Rhinos then you’re buying them from the wrong place!
