    Man complaining about other road users states ‘Cyclists think they own the roads’ without any sense of irony.

    Really, lorries are responsible for every single cyclist death in London this year, but yeah, you keep spouting your ridiculous, victim-blaming shite fellah.

    Absolutely meaningless. You mean you get paid to do it and have been trained to the minimum standard required to allow you to do it.

    Bus drivers/Lorry drivers/taxi drivers, please realise that claiming to be “a professional driver” just help to clarify exactly what level of deluded self entitlement you’re actually suffering from.

    News flash. You’re just another road users, just like all the others.

    Yep, and the difference is that a bad cyclist will pretty much only harm themselves whereas a good lorry (van, car etc) driver could easily kill folk.

    Like the 2nd article 🙂 , but it is over a decade old.

    I’m seriously now considering filling my cars windscreen washer bottle with something other than pure water, and giving cyclists a ‘plip’ by washing my screen whenever I pass them…

    in the last week a lgv crashed into a stationary building sadly killing the driver, and a lgv overturned outside the local tesco, just missing a cycle path that went next to it, seriously disrupting traffic for many hours, both local and within a mile of each other.

    A lot of companies put so much pressure on lgv drivers to arrive on time, so the drivers break the laws and sometimes get caught out, causing serious injuries or delay to other road users.

    There need to be a wholescale retraning programe for both drivers and cyclists as to what is acceptable and legal to do on the roads, and now clarkson ,may and Hammond are unemployed a new vehicle for them arrives at the office.

    Better if we ‘re-trained’ the Managers and Directors, ie corporate ‘fines’.

    Yes, it is reasonable to suggest that both groups need more training. But given a limit on resources (which is inevitably the case) road safety would be improved more by ignoring the cyclists.

    I live in North Devon and I have yet to see one of his lorries obeying the speed limit on the North Devon link road in my ten years of living here. In fact all of the locally based hauliers are guilty of bad driving and driving with excessive speed. The only lorries that obey the speed limits these days are operated by the supermarkets or big national firms, and for the record I hold an HGV licence although it has been a few years since I last drove a truck.

    That said, there are some right cockwombles tooling around on road bikes in the area these days. It saddens me to say this but I do get the impression that some of the local MAMILs do truly believe that they own the road and ride with a sense of entitlement which does get up the noses of some of the simpler North Devon residents who have only just adjusted to the fact that a horse and cart is no longer considered high tech.

    Oh yes, another thing; if you look at the official government statistics the two groups of road users most likely to be involved in fatal incidents are car drivers and pedestrians and I don’t see anybody lobbying for all pedestrians to be issued with licence plates

    It sounds like he’s a reformed character all right.

    I completely agree with this, unfortunately many truck drivers appear to not use the mirrors in the first place or charge on regardless of what they can see. Had many a truck pull out on me on the motorway giving the appearance that they hadn’t even looked in the mirrors or felt they had a greater right to be there.

    Neither party came out of that well

    Mr Parker expressed concern that online apps such as STRAVA encouraged cyclists to travel faster than they otherwise would to compete with others.

    I can, off the top of my head, remember one Strava related fatality. Is Mr Parker a bike shop owner or a RHA plant?
