nice! I always prefer cheap bikes to be rigid, although I’m sure those forks will be anyway before too long 😂

Of course don’t forget Evans is Sports Direct now, so I’d always be wondering whether the RRP is really £999 🤔

I bought a second hand Trek Marlin for my lad to use for school, or just hanging around with mates. It has the same gears as that, and they’re **** awful!

The other problem is, as we all love tinkering, we’ll just go “oh those gears are rubbish, I’ll just swap them over for the 9 or 10 speed stuff I have hanging around it that box….”

Well you can’t as its only 7 speed so the rear freewheel needs to be changed to accept 9 or 10 speed, but it’s screw on so the whole **** hub or wheel needs changing…..

I’d already swapped the forks over and ended up buying a new front wheel so I didn’t have to stick to QR forks. Starting to cost me a bloody fortune!

It’s crap for £299, you’d have to be mental to have paid £999 for it during the 5 minutes* it was actually on sale for full price (*whatever the legal minimum time is, see also DFS)

Reasonable spec for a £300 bike.

Really really poor spec for a £1000 bike.

Quick Google shows the RRP at £399 at most other shops

    No way that’s a £999 bike. Even for £300 I think that’s a bit crap isn’t it?

Agreed that’s the DFS of sales tactics.

Buy it Weeksy and let us know if you get on with it 🤣

If you need a hack bike, 90’s Joe Murray steel Kona’s can be had for that sort of money

I don’t need a bike, i just thought “ooooh 70% off”.. Didn’t look at it in depth. I was looking on there for another discussion somewhere else rather than actively wanting a cheap pub bike.. i can get to the pub in 4 mins walking 🙂

There were a lot of cycle hire places selling off Formes a few weeks ago when their season ended, may also be an option.
