    I’ve accidentally bought a nice new liteville 301 today [don’t tell the lady].

    Are there axle conversion kits available for the Hope Pro2 to X12? [it’s an original Pro2 not the Evo]

    yes, kits are available.

    You need Hope kit HUB231.

    I bought one from CRC but it had a 135mm end adapters not the 142 ones (axle is the same for both). It was correctly labelled but incorrectly packed.

    I got a replacement from someone else in the end [edit – ukbikestore].

    [above is for pro2, for pro2 evo it’s just a case of changign the end caps.]

    I suspect you need to convert to the Evo internals/axle to do it but I am sure someone will be along with all the right info and answer in a bit but at least it gives you something to google.

    edit: ^ there you go

    one thing I had issues with is rear hose routing – they show it going kind of across the dropout and through the mount but the hose entry on my caliper wouldn;t allow that so I ended up with this after a bit of an experiment;

    as long as the ‘bend’ in the hose is pretty much where the pivot is then it’s not a problem – if you move it away from the pivot point then you need a lot of ‘slack’ in the hose to account for the change in length needed as the suspension compresses. LEt all the air out of the shock and force the suspension to full compression to make sure it won’t pull the hose tight at any point.

    As mentioned, you can get the HUB231 kit, but you should be aware that lots of people eventually snap the 12mm axle using this kit, this is basically why the Evo hubs came out.

    The Evo rear hub has a narrower rear bearing to allow for a thicker 12mm axle, Just Riding Along supply a kit that has all of the internals to allow you to convert your non-Evo rear hub to a proper Evo spec, it’s not cheap though as it requires a new freehub and bearings.

    I converted mine about 3 months ago as my new frame was a 142×12, it’s been working perfectly since.

    wwaswas, Thanks for the hose tips, it looks like you have got it fitted up neatly. At a glance I think I can pull off the “round the mount” fitting with my callipers.

    Stevelol, I’ve already managed to snap a couple of the standard 9mm QR axles so I can fully see this happening. Thanks for the tip off.

    To convert a Pro 2 hub to Evo spec will cost you ~ £80+! (New freehub, new washer, new axle, new adptors).

    I have numerous pairs of 135 and 150mm Pro 2 wheels converted to 12mm bolt through and all have survived 3+ years of use. I have numerous mates who have them too and none of us have had an axle fail and two of them are beasts and have broken virtually everything else on their bikes :lol:.

    Yes it has happened to some but this “lots of people eventually snap the 12mm axle using this kit” is just internet scaremongering. I believe the problem has been the failure of ‘Maxle lite’ axles, I know I haven’t got any on my bikes so I can recommend the solution to not use one!!! 😉
