I often I find myself travelling and spending an evening watching Netflix / YouTube etc using mobile data. This is all good. It would be better however if I could cast it somehow onto my 15” portable monitor (usbc / mini hdmi inputs). This is without using hotel wifi etc.

Is there a dongle that could achieve this?

    thanks.

Assuming your phone is USB C – you could just physically connect via a cable – USB-C to USB-C or mini HDMI/HDMI

Why not just use a cable to plug the mobile into the monitor directly?

If your phone is an older lightning iphone, then use the digital AV adapter to get HDMI to the monitor.

Indeed I tend to carry one travelling plus a lightweight HDMI cable, to hook up to hotel TVs.

If I remember correctly when having tried to attach a mobile to a larger source you are denied that via the app (Netflix and BBC iPlayer/ITVx spring to mind after getting to a friends house, trying to watch the rugby when they had cancelled their live TV feed).

I’d say a Chromecast/firestick, but both would need a ‘network’ to connect to whether you could do this via a mobile phone hotspot and connect that way I’m not sure. I know the firestick also has an optional extra ethernet connector as I use one at home. Would likely be easier with an app and downloaded content on whatever platform you plan to watch I’d imagine.
