I’m not sure it is the done thing to talk about the unofficial stuff at Cannock, but if OK, does anyone know what the state of it is post-Darragh?

I’m thinking of the Fishy-Shooty area if anyone knows what I mean.

Basically we have our annual group Xmas ride organised for there in a week and just wanted to know if it would be a wasted journey.

    Any intel gratefully accepted.

AFAIK official stuff still closed, seen some photos of alot of damage, and imagine alot of the cheeky stuff will have been similarly affected. This weekends race at Stile Cop is cancelled due to the damage

    @tenburner

Thanks for the heads-up. Despite us having ‘previous’ on here, I appreciate you putting that to one side on a bike thread post.

I’d do a thumbs up if emojis worked.

    🙂

Race is on this weekend from what I can see – they posted up a couple of hours ago about online entry closing at 4pm today.

They cancelled it last weekend due to the damage and rescheduled for this Sunday 15th.

Can’t comment on the state of the OP stuff as not ridden it in ages, but I believe Forestry have been going round blocking off stuff again……

Ah right you are, my mistake!

Haven’t been up there yet, but from looking at peoples’ strava, I’d say the following are definitely damaged/obstructed:

    Bluefish

    Fishy Rampage

    Dogfish

    Gamefish

(stuff on north facing slopes basically)

The following look like they’re ok:

    McFish

    Jim’ll Fish it

    Monsterfish

    Rooty Mcrootface

    Mondofish

    Snaketrack

    Voodoo People

(On the monkey side – Green Spade and Network Trail have trees down across them. no idea about the rest)

I’ll be up there tomorrow morning for a ride & recce, and again on sunday with a bowsaw to clear what I can (other people will probably have the same idea). Will update on monday.

I’ve been on the Chase a couple of times this week. Mostly off Piste. Today in a straightish line from Milford/Brocton to Castle Ring. Not much storm damage in evidence but a lot of closures due to forestry work. But this is midweek, I don’t know if it’s different at the weekend.
Big John’s was running a bit slow, unkempt, overgrown and soggy. The trail was fine though.

We came across a film crew today near Marquis Drive cafe shooting a film they said was destined for Netflix. It was a bit of a low-key location and base, compared to some I’ve seen but worth keeping my eye open for.

Ok so I had a ride around the fishy shooty area this morning, and the majority of trails are fine, not too muddy either for this time of year.
The north facing slope of the hill where blue/game/dog fish trails are seem to have taken the brunt of the storm, lots of trees down, and a forestry harvesting vehicle is there.

chatted to a few riders who’d been over the monkey side, and the word is that most trails are fine there too, just the ones I already mentioned with tees down across them

Been over by the shooting range and that block of trees is clear but have had little use. First 3 trails on the left all ok. The block next it is now all clear, Some Fookers After Fish etc, these have had more regular use. The other side of Little Kick fire road is ok except for Wilfs Rampage, A least 2 lots of trees all leaning on one another.

Does anyone know if there’s any reason why there are so many trails with the fishy theme?

Yeah, they’re named by ‘Fisher Tours’, the crew who build them
