Anyone done a basic service on cane creek dB air shock, mine has started to show oil smear marks down the tube/shaft, so thinking I just need to take the outer can and inner can off and inspect clean/change seals and relube? Not much information given on their website other than spend £105 for one of their test centres to do it for you... Seems rather expensive for a seal change 🙁
Anyone at all? 😀
Would be interested to know also (for the inline) - as you found, there seems to be very little information out there.. even for a basic air-can service.
Mine is running well and was wondering how long it took before a noticeable decrease in performance. Mine's now a year old but will be going on a new frame in 6 months so would like to have it serviced then rather than now.
Air can is easy to take apart, it just unscrews and the seal looks like it pops out
I've wondered this too, my CCDB CS will be two years old in August.. hasn't been used a great deal the last year.
At least with my fox shock on my other bike I can unscrew the aircan, give it a clean. Replace seals and add fresh oil..
Obviously I can't change the nitrogen gas myself..
Bit more envolved than a fox shock..

I think the TF Tuned service includes the shox bushes as well , they did mine and after talking to the techy doing the service he put a tune/setting in for me thats been great compared to my faffing about with the setup.
oldtalent - MemberIts a £500+ shock. For the sake of a £100 service every 12- 18 months I just dont think its worthwhile me trying & buggering it up.
A lot of seals get changed for £100.
Well £100 a year along with everything else that needs paying once a year might not be a lot to you and might not be worth your while, but for me it most certainly is.
Most shock and fork manufacturers give you the opportunity to do a basic seal relube.. Cheers for the link goldigger, will definitely have a go, not sure I'll do the second part though.. Looks more daunting! 😯
No prob Chris, yeah I wouldn't bother with the 2nd part..far to much faffing about and looks like an accident waiting to happen.
I'm happy if I can just give it a clean up and check everything is in working order..
When it starts to play up if it does I'll then send it to tf tuned for a full service..
I really can't see the point of spending £100+ on a shock service every year. All my shocks seem to last about 5 years with me performing regular cleans and re-lubes. In that time I could of spent nearly £500. When mine do break or I fancy a change I will just buy a newer "better" shock with the money saved. I have had them serviced in the past when I knew no better but it performed no better when it came back so I won't do it again.
Goldigger, thanks for that link. I've been wondering how to do a basic air can service on it
