    Hi all,

    Thinking about rawing my Giant STP, and the cabling on it at the moment is a bit of a faff.
    It doesnt run full gear outers, not too big of a deal, but wud prefer being able to.

    For the brakes, the bits you’re supposed to press the hydro hose into is too big, so I’ve had to run two zipties around the toptube to keep the hydro hose in place. And then ziptied it to the seat stay too.

    Can kind of see in this pic;

    So I’m thinking of grinding pretty much all the cable guides off, and putting something else in place.

    At the moment, all I can think of is aralditing (or similar) these to the bottom of the top tube (for hoses and gear cable), and to drive side seat stay (for gear cable);

    Any other better suggestions? Just fancy tidying the cabling up a little if I’ rawing the frame. Dont fancy trying to weld/braze new mounts on though..

    Digging this up again.

    Any thoughts on getting some braze on cable mounts, and just epoxy-ing (or whatever) them to the (aluminium) frame? It’s that or those self adhesive plastic ones as far as I can see…

    Ta, Duane.

    You can get plastic sleeves designed to slide into the brake guides and hold the hoses tightly. As for running full length gear outer, just open out the guides to 4mm and your cable will run through no problem, and you can still use split outers if you want to go back.

    Duane, these will hold your hydro hoses in the open cable guides.

    Can’t help with converting the cable stops that the gear cables go through, though.

    Just drill out the cable stops

    Or use Gore Ride-On cables – the utility of full outers but fitting into normal cable guides.
