Was given a very expensive push mower last week. Previous owner had failed to get it to start and just gone out and bought a replacement despite me telling her not to.
A judicious bit of priming and a few tugs brought nothing but disappointment. Repeat until grey cells realise that I ought to have flooded it by now and there is no smell of petrol.
Engine 101 followed. Spark as expected good and strong. Fuel from tank to carb is new (replaced already) and free flowing. Carb bowl full, yet no flooding of engine……. must be blocked jets. So off to the local car parts place for some carb cleaner. Bought that and some other bits whilst I was there and seen this engine starter…Killed me…

My mate brought some round after I cocked up a fuel filter change on the van (turns out mine didn’t have the priming pump) we both wore goggles. It works 🙂

There used to be other brands of this type of spray BITD. I tended to use it to avoid big carb flooding when restarting after the latest head gasket (my old mk2 Escorts ate these, probably due to badly modified heads)

I do like this one though. It made me laugh!

I didn’t look at your link I am guessing it was easy start.
It’s ether. I had a mk1 triesel dansit with a york engine, they were famed for not starting. When my brother borrowed it he punched a hole in the bulkhead and turned the air cleaner to point at the hole. To start it it he cranked it and gave a squirt thu the hole, it started straight away everytime.

    Pah!

Poor new world copy of the king:

You do realise it’s addictive – for the engine, not you? After some time the engine will not start without it, although some engines will make an attempt if you just show them the tin.(Always remove the lid though, even if you don’t use it as they know you’re messing with them otherwise).

At the risk of the ban hammer descending. Here is an image for those not inclined to follow the link:
