What grates me most is this thread and all the tits who post on it who don’t even like football. Fwiw I hate the tdf, its boring as **** bar the last 400m and the odd crash. Do I post on the tdf thread, nope.

Another thing that’s upset me tonight is my 9 year old lad who’s not really into football has stuck by my side watching with the same sorry face I had. He’s really got World Cup fever and I don’t think a dose of England heartache is going to cure it. I hope he suffers less than I have over the last 24 bitter years!!

this is better than going out on penalties in semi’s, knowing you were the better team.

@ Wrightyson Might be worth getting the young un a sense of perspective then at least he’ll be less sad? Anyway, over and out.

I was an hour behind on +1 telly as I’ve been doing a bit of wood work in the garden with some beer and sunshine.

Picked up the phone and there was the score and I just noticed Spain is out too. Glad I decided to enjoy the sun based on what I am watching.

Something tells me I won’t be watching England in the next round.

Just watching the last few painful minutes

wrightyson, as I was correctly advised when I reacted to somebody trolling the thread last night, if you ignore them, they go away. No sense in giving them the erection they seek by getting a reaction. Tbf, the footie fans have kept themselves well corralled into this thread in the same way as the rugby fans and F1 fans do in the respective threads. Some folk can’t help themselves though. If you ignore them they’ll just have to find something else to which to masturbate tomorrow.

I’m not pleased, clearly. And I’m not optimistic. But it’s not a done deal yet.

I don’t see it as inconceivable, in fact not even unlikely that Italy will win both their games. So Uruguay will end on 3 points and a goal difference of at best -2 (currently -1 and will get worse). Our current gd is -2 so if we beat Costa Rica we de facto improve that and therefore will be better than Uruguay.

So for Costa Rica. If they lose to Italy tomorrow even 1-0, they’ll be on 3 pts and gd +1. If we then beat them on Tuesday, by 2 goals, our gd will increase to zero and theirs drops to -1, and we’d qualify.

Like I said, these are not impossible outcomes, and I could even imagine Italy beating them by more. As long as it’s not 6-4 or something daft!!!

It’s not in our hands, clearly, but we aren’t out.

    Half English/Half German.

    …and Greek in-laws.

    So just the three.

Giz a kiss, and I’ll pull for the Scottish if they qualify in the future. 😀

england will not qualify, if italy beat costa rica, even if england beat them too (which is highly unlikely playing as they are) Italy and Uruguay can both qualify playing out a draw.

I don’t think we played that badly in either game, certainly in tonight’s game it was very fine margins, had their player been sent off, had Rooney’s free kick or header gone in.. Etc..

nah, youse were muck. lost any momentum you had from the first game. granted alot of that was down to uruguay closing you down effectively, but you had no plan b to deal with that(that’s your managers fault). therefore, utter muck.
