I bought a Rab MeCo long sleeve about ten years ago and it has been my go-to for just about everything. Sadly I was a bit overdressed this morning and in a show of hulk-,like strength managed to tear it in two trying to pull it over my head…

The fabric was a blend of Merino and some sort of synthetic/coconut mystery fabric, and it really worked, never smelled, dried quickly, never too hot etc. etc.

It doesn’t exist on the market any more so is there anything else significantly better than just ‘standard’ merino/synthetic blends? I’ve seen a couple of decent looking 50/50 blends in the right weight that I’ll probably try otherwise.

Haven’t Rab re-branded MeCo as Syncrino? It’s a merino/synthetic mix, same as the original stuff, so even if it’s not identical, maybe worth a look. There’s a shedload of Rab on Sport Pursuit at the moment, and has been for months btw. Not sure what they have in baselayer options, but they do have the heavier weight Syncrino mid-layer stuff, which is eye-wateringly expensive at RRP.

I think Montane also does a merino/polyester hybrid with a similarly contrived name, which I’ve forgotten.
